GPA: 4.15 (W) 3.6 (UW) (During my Sophomore year, there were domestic and personal problems that led my GPA to really dip. My freshman Year GPA was a 3.8 (UW).)

SAT: 1490 (R&W 700 M: 790 Essay 18/24) Superscored SAT: 1510 (R&W 720 M: 790)

AP: AP Euro (5) Currently taking: AP Bio and APUSH

Awards: 1st place in a Caltech science fair competition during a summer program (Won $1700 in grants for our project), Leo Club Presidential Award, Essay scholarship from Leo Club

EC: Basketball: JV, Sophomore, and Freshman (2 years; had to play in both JV and sophomore at the same time)

Piano: 11 years (since Kindergarten)

Academic Decathlon: Made it onto the team this year

Caltech: Entered a 3 year caltech summer program. Next summer to enter my last year of the program.

JPL program: entered through application; spent 6 weeks under a JPL director building projectiles and launchers.

Volunteering: Leo Club (Treasurer; 2 years), Bio Summer Advanced T.A (would lecture some lessons, tutor some students, prepare labs, and grade assignments; 2 years), Key Club (2 years), and church volunteer events (2 years but events are now and then) Total hours = 327

UC’s only use 10-11th grades so although you are doing well, you still have need more grades to include in their GPA calculation. You are on the right track so far and your test scores look competitive. Come back and post at the end of your Junior year so CC posters and gauge your chances.

CS is also highly competitive for the UC’s so start formulating your list from the bottom up. Look at selecting 1-2 safety schools before you consider these top UC’s.
