Chance me?

Hi everyone!

I’m applying to Vassar as a transfer student out of a BFA theatre program and was wondering about my chances of getting in! In my essay, I wrote about how I realized I wanted a broader and more rigorous liberal arts education to supplement my interest in theatre.

High school GPA: 3.7
College GPA: 3.8
ACT Composite: 31
APs: Art History, Gov, US History, English, Psych

High School Extracurriculars:

  • Drama (4 yrs)
  • Speech Team (4 yrs, many awards, Vice President)
  • National Honor Society (2 yrs)
  • Camp Counselor
  • Assistant taught a class at my local community theatre

College extracurriculars:

  • Intern at a nonprofit
  • Involved in theatre

I plan to visit and would love to do an evaluative interview, but their website says interviews are informational only.

I was also wondering about Vassar’s acceptance rate for transfers - their website says it’s pretty small, but the common data set had it at about their acceptance rate for first-years. Does anyone know about what it is?

I’m also applying to Kenyon, Skidmore, Whitman and Wesleyan - how do my chances for Vassar compare with those schools?

Thank you so much!

According to the Common Data Set, Vassar doesn’t look at demonstrated interest, so should I even bother visiting?

I come on here every once in awhile even though I am already a student here because there are not a lot of Vassar peeps on here. I think you have a good shot at Vassar and yes, I think you should visit. Most people either really love it or are meh. It is not for everyone. If NYC was not such an easy trip, I might not like it so much, but I’ve been into the city three times so far and I’m a freshman. That’s just because personally I love city life. I did not expect to like Vassar (NYU and Chicago were my top choices), but I ended up applying early becuase I liked my overnight so much. I had to withdraw my apps to the others. I really like that everyone here is smart and passionate, but not competitive. There’s a lot of helping each other out. The Powerhouse summer program is pretty awesome for those who love acting. Good luck!
