Hi! I am a rising senior from a very prestigious public school
i really am considering ED to NYU to increase my chances of getting in because i know my stats arent that good.

GPA:3.45 weighted
ACT: have not finished testing but hope to get a 28 atleast
black,puerto rican, and native american girl from town outside of DC

common app essay:im from the virgin islands so i wanted to talk about how the hurricanes last year deeply effected the islands and how it effected my family as well. also if i were to apply to stern (want to major in business but dont think i could get in to stern) i would talk about how i want to help build the infrastructure and economy in the virgin islands

ecs:
yearbook (all 4 years. assistant editor in chief this year)
executive board all 4 years
Future business leaders of america
asl honors society
national honors society
UMTTR club
internship for the past 4 years with miss universe pagaent organization
worked at local boutique for 2 years

fluent in american sign language and spanish

580 community service hours-- gonna try and get them to 600 if that would work
my recommendations will be strong (one from my yearbook and english teacher and other from my aplang and executive board sponsor along with counselor rec)

i want to major in business management and fashion merchandising or even international business. any other recommendations of other things to initially major in and then hopefully transfer into a business school?

As of right now chances are very slim. And those chances are only hanging on because you are a URM. Oh and by the way the business school at nyu is much more selective than the university as a whole.

Stern is definitely a reach. You’ll be banking on affirmative action for admission at this point. I’m pretty sure stern has a lower acceptance rate than the rest of the school, so it might be even harder.

Agreed ^. Also Stern doesn’t look at race or anything so that won’t help you. Your GPA and SAT are just way below the average. If you want me to be honest I think your chances for the other NYU schools will be hard to unless maybe gallatin and then try to transfer?

Stern is really really hard if you didn’t know, it’s a different level from the other NYU schools.
