chance me?

1400 SAT score(740-math, 660-reading)
3.43 UW/4.24 W (i believe)
Extracurriculars: violin(I’m in a county-wide orchestra and have been playing for almost 9 years), hold leadership position in a community service club, hold a leadership position in the school’s chapter of a national music honor society, hold a leadership position in student government, participated in a student-run company and held a few “leadership titles”(titles given to everyone who participated in the program), member of a school business club(I made it to the state conference two years in a row, but did not make it my junior year)
Experience(internships, volunteer): was an intern at 2 different non-profits for 2 years, volunteered at a hospital for nearly a year, volunteered at a senior home for some time, currently working a job
Honors/Awards(not sure if this is necessary but just including it): Honor roll every quarter, member of the National Honor Society, invited to the schoolwide Student Leadership Conference, Awarded a scholarship for Dale Carnegie Young Adult Leadership Program(and had a short q&a about me published…should that be included?), various awards at regional/state conferences for the business club

I am not completely sure of what I want to major in, but I know I would like to study something business-related (healthcare management, international business, marketing, management, supply chain).

My SAT score is around/above the 75th percentile for some of my safeties/targets, but my gpa is below average so I’m not sure if I did these correctly…

Safety:
University of Maryland Baltimore County (state school)
Pennsylvania State University
Hofstra University

Target:
University of Maryland College Park (state school)
University of Pittsburgh
Syracuse University
Fordham University
American University
University of Delaware
Babson College

Reach:
George Washington University
Boston University
New York University
University of Richmond
Bentley University
Emerson College
University of Southern California

Please tell me which schools I need to take off of my list and if I need to add any more safeties (if so, what should they be?)

Thank you!

One thing to remember is that even if a college is a statistical match, it could be a financial reach. UMBC has a 60% chance of admissions based on your stats. Everything else is pretty much a certain decline or unaffordable if you do get in.

Here’s my advice. Most kids end up going to a match/safety school even if they get into a reach school. The reason is that they find they either can’t afford it, or the major they want is too hyper-competitive. That’s a good list if you’re applying to medical school  For undergraduate, you only need about 5 schools at most. I would scrap the list except UMBC, and choose a couple more in-state safety schools. Still put Maryland on the list, because you could be surprised, and it’s affordable too.

you know that the gpa for the admissions calculator on prepscholar is out of 5.0 right…so according to prepscholar, i have a 93% chance…your reply is freaking me out, how do you know that EVERY single school is a certain decline? or unaffordable? i never put in any info about my financial status, and i wouldn’t put schools that i know we cannot afford.

I think you have a solid chance at the majority of your target and reach schools, but I also agree that your list is a bit too long. Good luck on your college application process!
