Umm, Dartmouth, UC Berkely, Princeton, Stanford, Wesleyan, MIT, Umich, U-WI

I think a coach's tip might actually shift the balance in your favor at Wesleyan and Dartmouth. At the others, you'd probably need some kind of national standing for it to really be a factor. I would certainly give them all shots, though. I mean, how good are you? ;)

Decent, not good at all. I am going to call the coaches. not recruitable

you will get into all of them with no problems if you are good at bassoon, otherwise, you would have a tough time with those more selective schools.

I'm not.
Will this kill me?

It would not "kill you", but without something special like bassoon, it will be significantly more difficult to get into the schools which you have listed.

Don't give up though.

You can probably get into Umich and U wisconsin pretty easily. I don't know anything about Wesleyan, but MIt, Stanford, Pton, etc will be very hard to get into.
