chance me..

<p>Anyone mind rating my chances? International needing aid here..</p>

<p>SAT1: 610CR, 780M, 680W (fairly confident that I could get at least 700W, 680CR, really hopeful that i could get 710, 710 tho)
SAT2: Should be fine
My stats: you know already (O- 7 A 1 B in 2 sittings and A Levels- should be predicted minimum 4 ‘A’s, tho final year school grade only 3 A 1 B )
ECs:
Student council: 4 years (treasurer of a bureau)
Peer Group Counsellor: 4 years (magazine editor)
School team for Maths: year 9 and 10 (captain for year 10, runner up in nationals, among the top fro individual category) (actually available from year 7 to year 10, too bad i won in year 8, doubt that it'll count.. but mayb i could mention)
Computer school team: year 9 and 10 (won nationals in both years, top for individual category)- also not available in year 11,12
Environmental Club: only year 12 (chairperson, changing the school's attitude towards the environment.. really bad here.. but we don do much grand stuffs like those from other countries who could organize events involving the country.. plenty of red tape here)
Scouts: year 11,12</p>

<p>Australian Computer competition: Gold medal in year 10 (top in my country)
Australian National Chem quiz: Plaques in year 9 and 10 (top 1 %)
Canadian Math competition by Uni of Waterloo (jus a written quiz): silver standard
Australian math quiz: high distinctions for 3 years (top 3 or 2 %..)- is this too trivial?
Some school Academic awards, best in math award in O level in my school</p>

<p>1 week work attachment at local hospital, some counselling workshops, went to lectures at local university, help out in research at local university
Learning Chinese calligraphy</p>

<p>Oh yea, I also sang during the national day celebration choir- it's not a selective event tho.. they jus pick ppl from certain school/years.. not something impressive.. but at least it's not math//sci!</p>

<p>In addition, I speak and write 3 languages: Malay (national language here), English and Chinese. Also, I speak 3 dialects of Chinese: Cantonese, Hokkien, Mandarin (the writing is the same for all Dialects) I also know the "arabic" style of writing malay- Jawi.. took ECs in French (year 7) and Japanese (year 10).. Would all these help?</p>

<p>Thanks..</p>

<p>I know my credentials arent outstanding at all.. would coming from Brunei help?</p>

<p>Just say no chance if i'm that bad.. Any response?</p>

<p>Where did you learn Mandarin???
Maybe you can join people on this forum and share your precious knowledge:

I'm impressed!</p>

<p>jhl:</p>

<p>"Chances" questions are difficult for US applicants, nearly impossible for international applicants. </p>

<p>It's not that your chances are "bad", it's just that any guess would be literally a guess. I'm not sure it's fair to you to make a pure guess.</p>

<p>My advice would be to put together a list of schools covering a range of admissions difficulties and see what happens.</p>

<p>Your math talents, your language skills, and being from Brunei would all be things that Swarthmore would find interesting. I'm just not confident that I understand why one international applicant is selected over another, so answering your "chances" question is really tough.</p>

<p>Interesteddad, thanks.
Hamihaha, thanks. I learnt mandarin during my elementary school days, then transferred.. I still speak tho.. Learnt to speak cantonese from watching tv.. Hehe</p>

<p>Hamihaha, i don really have proof that i speak, write chinese.. So i'll take SAT2 chinese</p>
