Chance me!!!!!

Hey guys, I just EA the U of C and wonders my chance of getting into. First of all I am a native Chinese and just transferred to a US private high school in LA. I took a SAT test and got a really bad score 1950(700,620,630. I am overconfident in my math and didn't review anything before the test and got a poor 700) I'll retake the SAT in December.
I'll take the SAT2 math2 and chemistry in November, and hopefully get perfect scores.
No APs in China, and I got a 3.67/4.00 GPA in China (trust me or not, the courses are ten times harder than US advanced classes)
I'll take the TOEFL in November. I don't know how much I can get but I think it won't be too bad as I can communicate with others without difficulty. (except my poor pronunciation at first, which is developing fast, hah)
My father is a owner of a company of more than 1000 workers and my mother is an owner of another smaller company.
I have taken AP tests:
AP calculus BC 5
AP calculus AB of the BC 5
Chemistry 5
Physics C Electro 4
Biology 2.
The biology was really a hurt, but that's because I don't have time prepare for it -- I home-schooled them in only two months; in addition, I had to take Chinese classes in the day. I forgot to bring my calculator in physics test and left many questions blank (that accounts for my 4) (I explained it in the application.)

Everyone in China takes the same curriculum. My 12th grade curriculum in US is:
Advanced Chemistry, Calculus BC, Creative Writing, English 4(senior), Film2:Great Films, US history, an independent study of puritanism. (don't ask me why I took these classes, my high school is very small; I don't have many options. At first I intended to take courses in a nearby college, but because it already started, I can't enroll in.)
I guess my 12th grade GPA will be 4.00 as these classes were really easy( I only got 85 on my English class, but my English is developing fast and I am very confident of getting A)
Recommendation Letter:
One is from my history teacher. She wrote that how I knew more about US history than my classmates and how she enjoyed my debates with others. (I intend to study history in the university.)
Another is from my chemistry teacher. He wrote that if others work on a test for an hour and got a 60, then I can finish it in twenty minutes and earn a 90.( I am careless and hardly ever get every questions right)
My extra-curriculums:
varsity soccer.
dota (a competition video game very popular in China) player and I got a champion of local match with my friends in China. Actually after took the ap, I dropped off from my high school and was so completely concentrated on playing it from May to Aug that I forgot I have a SAT test on October:)
member of City Hero Program, which is a community service that develops leadership and communications.
guitar player.
translate essays for the dota forum of Super Gamer website in China.
get a job as a typer in a summer in my father's company.
clean the beach on weekends.
exchange to the US
representative of my school in Math League of California.
walk for the funds for AIDS
raise money for UNICEF on festivals

Honors:
Second prize in general science in China (regional)
first prize in English composition in China (school)
AP scholar (regional)
Outstanding Student since 9th grade to 11th grade in China (school)
These honors are not convincing, hah -- I am notorious for not working hard in China.

Can anyone help chance me? I really want to get into U of C. I am generally quite confident, but my awful SAT score really hurts my confidence. Thanks!

BTW, my essays are quite good ( my councilor and my English teacher all say that they are beautiful), so I think they won’t prevent me from getting into.

No one responds?
Or should I move it to the Chance Thread?

Are you going to apply for EA or RD?

Early Action.

I beg your pardon, but does UChicago accept December SATs for EA? I don’t think if the results would even be out by the time they give out their decision.(15 dec)

sahilchaudhry is right. if you want them to see your Dec SAT’s, then you must apply RD.

Yeah. I know it. Actually I want to try, and if rejected, I’ll reapply as RD.

There’s another issue: there’s nothing such as reapplying RD once you’re rejected in Early Decision or Early Action, unless you are deferred, in which case you are automatically pushed to the RD deadline.

sahil, isn’t it true that if one gets deferred in EA, he or she can submit additional material for consideration for RD?

no. definitely not.

sahil, what makes you feel so sure about this?

Well, I mean, it’s clear this guy is smart.

English is his second language and he still got 600+ scores on all sections of the SAT, even critical reading and writing.

I totally believe Chinese school is harder, and it’s also impressive that he self-studied for all of his exams and received strong scores on many of them (I don’t think I would’ve mentioned that you forgot your calculator, though - all that proves is that you’re disorganized/ditzy! Especially since a 4 is a decent score).

I wouldn’t guess that an American 3.67 kid with SAT subsections below 700 and a major EC being “competitive video gamer” would be very confident in his/her admissions chances at UC. But I suppose we don’t really know how they evaluate international applicants - I for one have no idea how they evaluate an international’s GPA or scores on US standardized tests. Even EC-involvement is culturally different to some extent…

Thanks, all guys. I don’t know that it is impossible to re-apply.But I am pretty sure that I can submit extra scores if I was deferred.

UChicago writes on its website.

Alas, it seems that I should RD not EA as I think my 12th grade score can be 4.0 UW and my SAT score can improve a lot, but now I can only pray that I will be accepted.

^ that is exactly what I thought. Thanks for sharing the link.

See, that’s the thing. International admissions are significantly more selective, especially from China.

Yeah, I agree. But I believe my exchange experience can show how well I adapt to the US education system.
