Chance of getting into UIUC LAS

Hi, I’ve been really stressed out about whether or no I have a chance of getting into U of I and I was wondering if anyone has any experience.

I just finished my Junior year of high school. I’m an african american male. I don’t go to the best high school but the smart kids are smart.

If anyone could give me an idea if i have a chance I would appreciate it. My major is probably Intergrated Biology. Also, should i put a second choice major or just put DGS as second choice? Thank you!

Your EC’s are pretty common and they don’t really show depth (other than SCA and NHS). The EC’s you are involved in doesn’t relate to your Major, so try focusing your time in that area to show that you can achieve great things in that major. Take the SAT again and get at least a 1500.

@ CBP: He’s applying to UIUC LAS, not trying to get into a top 25 private. He’s good to go number wise. The question is how much money he can squeeze out of the university for his academic resume. Also, I wouldn’t categorize NHS as “depth” unless he was in charge of some unique program that got local/state/national recognition since NHS is probably the most common “activity.”
