My d received a letter telling her that she has been identified as a truly outstanding applicant and that she is going to be offered admission to Fordham for the fall 2012 semester. The letter states that she is under active consideration by the committee on scholarship. She is a merit scholarship finalist with an approximate 95 average. Do you think that she will receive a merit scholarship?

If they told you they are looking at it closely, my guess would be a pretty clear yes. How much I dont know. Every applicant is reviewed for possible scholarship. The primary factor, but not exclusive, is SAT score. But generally you need a 1400 SAT (Math and CR) to be considered. Good luck.

If she got an “early acceptance” letter, that is a very good sign in terms of a potential merit scholarship. Being a merit scholarship finalist is another big plus. Unfortunately there is no way of predicting anything for certain so you have to wait until the school notifies you of an award. Good luck.
