I got rejected this year with a higher gpa and test scores and around the same amount of ECs. However, my friend who got a 27 on the act and had a 3.6 got in. I think you could go either way. Make sure to apply early!!

I applied on September 1. Only 15 kids in my class were accepted this year as opposed to 45 last year. So it is definitely getting significantly more difficult!

Liv- just looked at your stats. I honestly don’t think you have anything to worry about. Just make sure to keep your options open. You’re no doubt going to get into amazing schools.

Liv- yes I was deferred along with 40 of my peers. Some people with lower stats than me got accepted and some people with higher stats than me got deferred. I applied EA along with most of my school. If I had to do it over, I would have submitted more rec letters. I’ve come to realize, though, that it’s not necessarily the school you go to that determines your success, but what you do with your time at that school. Being rejected from UMICH was a tough pill to swallow but you can’t let it ruin your college experience.

More rec letters? When I visited they said they wanted 1, unless there was a specific reason to have more. Do you think it looks better to have more?

And you’re right. As long as you find a good place for your major you determine your success. MSU is awesome too…definitely applying there as well!

I only submitted 1 because that’s how many they said they wanted. But I had unique ECs and I feel like a rec letter having to do with that would have strengthened my app. But if you’re only going to submit teacher recs, I would say only submit 1. You don’t want to annoy them and yes. I honestly thought I would hate state having grown up a diehard wolverine fan. But I just went to orientation last month and it was awesome. 100 times better than I had anticipated. Haha we just took over the OPs thread with this conversation.

Oh yeah trust me, last summer I went to journalism camp (haha) there, and it was seriously so much fun. And they’re well-regarded in many subjects for their academics, so you really can’t go wrong.

mjmay, why do you always feel the need to stalk me? all I said was if he didn’t get in, there’s a clear chance I won’t, seeing as our stats are similar

live4Physicz, there’s a big difference between a 35 ACT and a 31 ACT… Haven’t we had a whole thread dedicated to the fact that you have NOTHING to worry about…
