Also, another update, I got a job at C2 education. They pay 45$/hour.
I wrote an intellectually vibrant essay about how existentialism has played a role on my development.
I am still affluent, yes, and I still have privilege, but I don’t believe that is justification to demean one’s accomplishments under the pretense that they bought their grades and test-scores. Several kids who I know are also rich, spend 15k on SAT classes, and end up with 1600s.

Finally my list of colleges ended up being
Columbia
Yale
Harvard
Princeton
JHU
Vanderbilt
USC
UCLA
UCI
UCR
UCSD
UBC
Stanford
University of Redlands
University of Virginia Commonwealth
University of Utah.
NYU
University of Redlands?
@bluberaptor why didn’t you withdraw from USC when you found out about JHU…
@bluberaptor you can’t apply ED to JHU and SCEA to Stanford. That is against both policies and the common app won’t even let you do it…
@noel597 CommonApp let me to do that.
Yes I am aware I violated policies.
you understand that if both schools accept you, they will cancel the acceptance for protocol violation as soon as the information is known.
@bluberaptor That is super irresponsible.
@meriks Withdrew Stanford application, no longer a possibility.
@noel597 I’m aware, and it wasn’t really my choice lol.
@bluberaptor how was it not your choice… you CHOSE to ignore the rules.
@bluberaptor
So you are going to Johns Hopkins? Not understanding why you applied there ED
@JustOneDad I guess he really needs that scholarship to go to college on an 840k income.
He also had a compelling life story, went to a public high school, had a very balanced EC resume, and is the son of first generation immigrants, who have been in the country less than 25 years.
@gminor Free money is free money. I’ll take it any day disregarding my income.
@couplemoreweeks Yes I’m probably going to Johns Hopkins, but I like having choices so I choose not to rescind my applications. Yes I am aware that i’m taking someone else’s spot. Yes I do not care.
@noel597 I have parents. I can’t say no to these types of things.
Wow. Just wow.
I’m sure your parents are extremely proud that they raised such a caring and honorable son.
The OP can be easily identified and soon will be knocked off his high horse…
yeah, i think so too. Taking the spot of someone else is lame. Scholarships are not free money by the way, taking money at the expense of people who actually need it for their education is more than weak.
If you applied ED and were accepted, don’t you HAVE to attend, unless it is financially impossible? Does JHU even HAVE an astrophysics program? What did Neil say? Is he proud of you? [Do you stay in touch- drop by for some Mac-n-Cheese from time to time?]
Congrats on the acceptance. It sounds like you also received a scholarship- that’s great!
@tola2015 It was their decision as much as mine So yes, they are, indeed, proud.
@GA2012MOM Good luck with that LOL
@meriks Yeah it is pretty lame and unfair. I’d have to agree with you on that, but the thing is… life isn’t fair. It has never been fair. It will never be fair. We all have to realize that things are never going to be shaped into the cookie-cutter hole that is our idealized futures. Also, money is money. I earned it. It is unfortunate that someone else will not be receiving money, but that is not my problem.
@ItsJustSchool I do my own tax form. As far as finances are concerned, I am financially independent which I can demonstrate on my W2 (45$/hour is more than enough to live for a 16 year old kid). I’m actually in at Johns Hopkins for Biophysics. I decided that astrophysics wasn’t for me. I am in touch with Neil still, but we talk maybe once a month. Also, he’s extremely busy, so I haven’t seen him since last month, so no Mac-n-Cheese
Much thanks for the congratulations.
