I’m new here and know that you see these posts everyday but honestly what do you think my chances are of getting accepted to the USAFA or prep school?? I am a sophmore in hs so I still have some time, but have been interested for years.

GPA: 3.7 (Mostly honors courses, taking 2 APs next year.)
PSAT: 63Math, 51Reading, 52Writing (I know these scores need to come up for SATs)

Play JV lacrosse(hopefully varsity next year.)
NJHS
Coach/volunteer for kids lacrosse league
Scuba Cert.
Working on EMT and PPL
CAP
Eagle Scout

(I know I am probally missing a few things.)

I know that I need to get more involved in school clubs, but overall what do you think??

Thanks for the help!

pretty good but unless your being recruited for lacrosse the prep school wont happen unless your something other than white (since prep school is made up of 50% minorities). You'll probably want to raise your gpa quite a bit and your test scores for direct entry....

Your GPA is on the low side of "average" and your test scores could use a little improvement (although you usually do better Junior year). ECs look pretty decent.

Is there anything else for ECs that you would recommend me doing or getting more involved in??

I would continue to focus on academics at this point as it carries the largest weight. Try to shoot for or exceed a 650 Math and 650 CR on the SAT by January of next year.

I definitely agree with Gasdoc, and a suggestion for improving your math score. If you feel like you should be better at the math part than you are doing, or in other words, know all the material on the test but can't seem to get a good score, I recommend just doing multiple practice math tests and then looking at the explanation of how to do the questions. Through this method only I improved my score from 640 the first time to 750 the second

Quality not Quantity Drumsrock. Pick a club, a sport, and outside activity and give the your full effort. The SAT scores are important. The higher the score over 600 the sooner you may hear from admissions. Use study tools and resources like Kaplan. Potter had to take the things several times. The highest scores count.
