Chances and Question

Hello! I have been a long time viewer, but a first time poster on CC. I haven't applied to UVA yet, b/c I'm not sure if I'm good enough. Please give me my chances, so I don't feel like I applied in vain. Thanks! :-)

Yours caught my attention because of the fleeting, quick, glimmer of sense of humor that I detected when you wrote "White as day" in your self description.

It's just funny in a low keyed way. You have good qualifications, but are probably on the wrong side of borderline for UVA. However, if your brief little hint of humor and wit comes across in your essays>>I say you are in.
Like I say, for some reason I like reading these chances threads, and I read a lot of them. But you made me laugh with the "white as day" remark. Humor, if done well, can go a long way. Now, I'm not an adcom, but I'm fairly certain they too, look for something different/unique/quirky in an essay.
If you can carry that off, you might get in. I say give it a shot, it's not in vain.

Are you IS or OOS? That's very important. Your rank is good.

I was assuming "White as day and from the ATL..." meant Atlanta, GA. But you know what assume can mean when dissected, right? ass-u-me.
So, your question is good, IS or OOS?

Yeah I'm out of state, Atlanta, GA born and raised! Thanks for the essay tips. And then even if I do get in, there's the issue of financial aid, which I assume is set aside for mostly in-staters.

And for my internship, I wrote a 15-page report on Union-Pacific and the freight rail-industry, complete with graphs, maps, and pictures. I wonder if it would help my chances if I sent that in.

No, don't send in extraneous things that they don't ask for. Adcoms are busy people, and from what I hear, they want applicants to stick to the rules of the application process.
