Two main questions here: (1) What are my chances at W&M? and (2) What is the rigor at W&M like for an international relations (potential double major in Econ.) like?

What are my chances at W&M based off of the following:

1380 on the 1600 scale

ACT: 31

Hoping I get in, what is it like to be an IR, or even an IR-Econ double major at W&M? What's the work load like? What kind of opportunities would I get?

obviously, you are very competitive and chances are very good you will get in.

My degree from W&M is in IR, but it was the old degree. The new version is more involved and has more requirements. You can find them in the course catalog (can find it on google).

IR is a pretty demanding major in terms of courses required. But there are lots of opportunities. There is an econ component of IR, so they go together well.

As usual, soccer guy is on the money. I will add that my S is a Freshman studying IR and he notes that the amount of coursework is heavy. Not undoable …but heavy. His interests are eerily similar to yours, except for the music. He is fortunate to have very good time mgmt-skills that are helping him tremendously. He tries to prepare his material a few days ahead so he is not caught in the trick bag. Thru the rigor of his HS courses, he finds that he is well-prepared for the course work at WM but he notes that he has to study quite a bit to maintain his level of preparedness for class. Let’s just say…you will earn the degree when you get it. But isn’t that what you sign up for when you apply to a school of this caliber?
