Academic Record:
Border of 2nd and 3rd decile at an elite high school. All honors or AP courses. 3.5 unweighted, but my high school's so competitive unique, it's hard to judge just by that...

Testing:
31/32 ACT (with writing...i got a 31 but assume i will improve to a 32 when I take it next). Didn't take SAT or SATII's because its not required by the schools.

Extra-cirricular:
Class president three years (out of a grade of 1100 kids).
Freshman baseball.
Intramural volleyball four years.
Worked at two jobs, both two years each.
Founder of Ben and Jerry's club.
Treasurer of German Club sophomore year.
Social Service at a soup kitchen once a week for three years.
Varsity Football senior year.

Also work closely with the local chapter of the Libertarian Party. Attend meetings, conventions, etc.

Also worked on a student leadership board with local congressman.

Also did Safe Rides, this thing where you drive drunk kids home, safely.

Went to a political "camp" one summer in DC for two weeks. Went to Germany last summer for three weeks as well. That teacher will give me a great rec.

There's probably more, and I guess my academic record is kind of vague, but what are my chances at:

Pomona, Tufts, Claremont McKenna, Michigan, Pitzer?

Thanks.

I think nearly 70% of accepted applicants took SATs when applying to those elite LACs, especially Tufts and Pomona, and their scores were HIGH.

my college counselor suggested that taking just ACT with writing was ok. And it is an option as an alternative to SAT with two SATII's

act shouldnt be an issue. for future reference the spelling is curricular.

a few questions:
what is the ben and jerrys club? if its eating, please talk to me =D

how can i get in on driving drunks home? (not in my car...) sounds fun as long as my car isnt thrown up in.

otherwise, depending on how extremely competitive your school is, 20, 30, 40, 45, 60% respectively

my school has a lot of clubs. Ben and Jerry's was one that I started.

Sorry, but most likely I can't give you a ride home, because I'm probably on the other side of the country...

er i dont drink. i thought driving other drunks and having conversations with them would be fun though. do they screw up my car or not?

and what does the B&J club do?

Having an ACT alone won't hurt you. If you end up having time, though, you may want to consider taking the SAT simply b/c it's such a different test. I scored drastically better on my SAT than the rough ACT/SAT conversion would have predicted (and vice versa for other students). Part of why schools accept both is b/c it gives students a better chance of succeeding. As I recall, most schools will judge you by the better test. Also, I don't know your situation...you may have been studying like crazy...but don't necessarily assume that your score will rise next time you take the test. It certainly may, but it could just as easily go down b/c such a huge part of your score is based on how you felt that morning, which questions were on the test, and so forth. Not that it's too big of a deal...your score is already very good...just don't worry too much in case your prediction is off.

Your schools look good but I'll pass on advice that I've read elsewhere on the board, which is that Pitzer is slightly out of line with your other choices (esp. CMC/Pomona), so make sure that (a) you want to attend it for at least some of its own merit and not just as a "backdoor" into Claremont, and (b) that you make a special effort on your application not to make it seem like a safety school. I've heard they're sticklers about that. Also, which Michigan do you mean...MSU or UM? You might want to add another safety or low match to your list (especially if you meant UM).

Good luck!
