chances at A&M and trinity?

alright, here are my stats

gpa: 3.42
rank: top half (very competitive)
ACT: 28
ECs: varsity golf freshman and sophmore year, varsity tennis junior and senior year, captain my senior year, vice president of senior class, work experience teaching tennis over the summer, took 3 years of spanish and 4 years of math
strong recs and essays

ask if you need any more information

oh yeah, forgot a few things, I've taken AP government and AP macroeconomics, was in 3 other honors classes, and am in an independent study course for future problem solving.

A&M acceptance rate is 70%, rather high for a top tier (albeit it at the very bottom) school. Your SAT is right at the 75th %ile. Your class rank could hurt you; 79% of students are in the top quarter or better. How about classes? If you're taking all honors and AP, your GPA shouldn't hurt you. However, if you're taking mostly college prep, that 3.42 could effect your chances.

As for Trinity, acceptance rate is still relatively high (63%). 28% of students earned lower than a 3.25 GPA. ACT Composite range is 27-30, so you're a tad low. A little bit of a reach for you. Perhaps you should apply early.

well, ive taken 2 one semester AP courses (government and macroeconomics, they count as two) 4 honors courses (US history, algebra 2, english 2, and my independent study course is honors credit) and as far as above and beyond goes I took a third year of spanish and a fourth year of math, and that independent study course

OK. You should be in at A&M. Trinity is still a little bit of a reach.

oh yeah, i have one more question, if I finished my application by the middle of december when should I be expecting a letter?

At A&M there's rolling admission so you should hear right away. As for Trinity, you'll hear back by April.

Trinity will get back to you sooner than April if you're a slam-dunk.
