Thanks again. Oh, and if anyone has some info on the Neuroscience program at Amherst I’d definitely appreciate it!

You hooks are you are Native American and Mexican - are you Hispanic Scholar for SAT? Again, the admissions for elite schools is a crapshoot and NO ONE can tell you in advance whether or not you will be accepted. Suffice it to say that you will have stats that other applying will have, and some will have better. There are no interviews at Amherst, so your essays are critical. Work hard on them. Good luck!

Meant to tell you to read the thread entitled neuroscience on thi site. There is some very good info there for you.

http://www.amherst.edu/~neuro/ is a link for the neuroscience department. It's a 16 course major (half of your amherst courseload) and it is an interdiscplinary major comprising fields such as psychology, biology, and chemistry.

I agree with what ejr1 said about your chances. Good luck

Thank you both for your responses; I'll be sure to look up those sites.

Bump... >_>

I'd also like to add that I now have upwards of 560 hours of community service, I'm co-president of the school's Spanish-Speaking club, I'm on the executive cabinet of our Reading Club, and that C in physics is actually supposed to be a B.

Same response.

Luni,
NA/Mexican will be a hook, and your grades and scores look within range for Amherst. My main concern looking at your most recent post on the Oberlin forum (where you show that you are only taking the AP classes and orchestra right now) is that your schedule looks pretty light for junior and senior year, with 4 core subjects each year.

Have/are you going to one of the Diversity weekends? If so, that is a substantial boost as they accept 75% of those that attend and then apply.

It's impossible to predict, so work hard on the essays and good luck!

where in the application would you mention that you attended the diversity wwknd?

I don't think there's a specific place to write it down, but they'll have your name if you attended. Also, I can't recall if there's a "Why Amherst" question on their application, but that's always a good place to put a personal observation about the school that shows you've visited.
