Chances at BC, Villanova, etc? PLEASE HELP!

I’m a high school senior, just wondering what my chances are at these schools. Will chance back anyone who would like me to

My schools:
-Boston College (top choice, I have legacy there but I am still well aware that it will be a reach)
-Northeastern
-Villanova
-Providence College
-University of Scranton
-Fairfield University
-Catholic University of America
-Sacred Heart University
Thinking about adding Fordham?

Stats:
-W GPA – 3.67 (out of 4)
-SAT I – 1970 (670 CR, 620 M, 680 W)
-AP courses – Received a 4 in US History (currently taking Lit, Psych, and Gov this year and have A’s in all of them)
-Honors courses: English, Classics, History, Spanish.
(My school does not offer IB)
(My school does not rank)

EC’s:
-200+ volunteer hours accumulated over time from an animal shelter, elderly home, and food bank.
-“Head Volunteer” at a therapeutic center for people with disabilities, there for 5+ hrs a week.
-Ambassador Girl Scout.
-Member of a selective leadership group at my school.
-Horseback ride 5+ hours a week & I’ve been doing it for 12 years.
-JV Volleyball (Captain), Varsity team manager.
-I worked at a horse barn for 2 years and I’m planning on resuming that job this summer.

Honors/Awards:
-National English Honor Society
-Made honor roll every year, high honor roll my junior year (and senior year if I can keep my grades up!)
-Spanish Literature Honors Achievement
-Girl Scout Silver Award
-Senior Summer Service Project Award

Ethnicity: White
School: Private, all-girls

Major of interest: Psychology or English

Other stuff you might want to know:
-I am told that I have a good essay and great supplements.
-My grades have been in a constant upward trend. My freshman year grades aren’t stellar which is why my cumulative GPA is quite low, but my junior year GPA alone was a 3.91.
-I am aware that my scores kinda suck compared to others applying to my top schools. I am not the best test-taker.

TL;DR: I have average grades/scores, lots of community service that I am passionate about, and average leadership. My top schools are pretty selective.

**If you know whether applying EA or RD would increase my chances for certain schools, please let me know! I believe BC’s EA pool is more selective than the RD’s, but I’m not sure about the others. I’m also wondering if applying as a certain major (undecided vs. a major in the arts & sciences) adds a decision factor to admissions.

If someone has any suggestion for any another good schools (preferably in the Northeast), please let me know!

Thanks

I feel like you may have a shot at Villanova because you have a lot of volunteer work- also it doesn’t matter for them if you do EA or RD because you cannot be denied early action, only accepted or deferred to RD, where they then will look over your application a second time. I was wait listed at Villanova and then eventually got in and what I can tell about me and all my wait listed friends (I was in a dorm with other wait listed students) is that they love when people show interest in them. Maybe a personalized letter to the person who admits students in your area, telling them that it is your top school (do this for BC, since it is your top) doesn’t hurt to say “if I get in, I will be going here” good luck & don’t stress!

Thank you so much, I will keep that in mind!

BC lets hope. Villanova much better. From there down look great.

You also asked for suggestions. You should find a place for St. Michael’s in Burlington VT. It is ranked in the top 100 for national LACs. The location is awesome.

Sacred Heart? I would substitute St. Bonaventure especially for English and Writing, given SBUs journalism program.

Are you OK with something as strict as Catholic U? It is one of the Cardinal Newman approved schools which means it is very traditional in terms of Catholic dogma.

You should keep Fordham on the list. You have a good shot there. You also would get in at Marist

You may want to add Holy Cross. Your stats are on the low end of their range, but it’s a great school, you may like if better than Fairfield or Providence.

I will definitely look into Holy Cross, I have a relative that went there!
My parents are concerned about Fordham because it’s in the Bronx. I think that the campus is safe but my parents say otherwise lol.
Thanks for the tips so far!

Update ~ Just in case anyone sees this thread, I was just accepted into Scranton’s nursing program
Still awaiting my other decisions!

@phantomhorse Did you get a merit award from Scranton? I hope you visit because the campus quality is very high, housing is first rate and the food is excellent. It is a very nice school.

The nursing program has very high pass rates for the NCLEX.

@TurnerT I did get merit award for Scranton, $19k! I visited a long time ago so I will definitely be visiting again before I make my final decision. About the housing, food and nursing program – that’s really great to hear! I have heard many others say the same thing.

My one and only concern is the location. I think it is very safe but it just looks kinda run down and boring, and I also wish it was a little closer to a major city. But I’m sure if I went there I would end up liking it anyway (hopefully!)

@phantomhorse It is actually a nice city for students. There is a lot around the campus for students to do. I thought the same before I went that it would be drab and boring.

The facilities are in impeccable condition and the Loyola Science center is among the nicest I have seen anywhere.

As a parent, I might pick up on the facilities and maintenance and that sort of stuff before a student does. Just keep an eye for those things when you visit.

@TurnerT Sorry for the late reply. I haven’t visited in a long time so I think I definitely need to check out the campus again to get a better feel.

Just thought I’d update in case anyone stumbled on this post – I was accepted to Scranton, Fairfield, CUA, Providence and Sacred Heart all with merit aid. I think it’s worth mentioning I brought my grades to straight A+'s this semester, bringing my GPA to a 3.79, which was sent to all schools. Still awaiting to hear from BC, Fordham, Nova and Northeastern.
