Chances at caltech...help settle a debate

<p>Alright here's the deal, I visited Caltech last week and think its a really awesome place...my dad thinks I will be a "competitive" applicant but I think I will get blasted out of the water by the rest of the applicant pool. Since we both really don't know what we are talking about I figured I would come here and ask some people that are knowledgeable if I have what it takes to get into Caltech. </p>

<p>Having previously done good research in high school makes you quite a competitive applicant.</p>

<p>research helps, lack of math/science extracurriculars hurts.</p>

<p>You're certainly in the competitive range.</p>

<p>I'd say your chances are very good. No reason you shouldn't get accepted with a good application and essays. </p>

<p>In my opinion, there aren't enough science and math EC's, but then again I am just a high school student.</p>
