Chances at Chicago RD (2nd Choice)

You'll get into Chicago. You can bet the Princeton's AdCom will debate your application for a while :) ...your EC's are average for Princeton (which is scary to think about) and that's the direction the debate will take. Ultimately, I think they'll vote to admit.

thanks for the post spudkid, and you are right it is scary about the ec's, i cant understand how some kids can have tons of them and still get great grades

Though ultimately the SAT scores etc. of Chicago students are as good or better than most of the Ivy's, Chicago is not just about the numbers; one needs to show them "love" and write very good essays. A look at last year's "decision" roll-call shows many high number folks not making it. An earlier post in this thread mentioned kids accepted at top Ivies rejected at Chicago. This is largely because of the essays, including the why Chicago one. If you write good essays and can show Chicago you want to be there, you have an excellent shot. EC's are looked upon a little more skeptically as well. From a speech to the 2008 class by the Dean of Admissions:

"Nor do we know you by tallying the number of you who are musicians and athletes and volunteers, that being many, many of you. In our profile we list those things on the statistics page, a page subtitled, 'Notorious Liars'."

thank you for taking the time to write such a long and informative post, so i get the general idea now that chicago puts bery strong emphasis on their essays, i spent time on mine so hopefully they will like them
