Chances at ED to Vassar College. <3.

I've been reading through these forums for months now, smiling, laughing, even giggling every once in a while. All the while thinking "wow, it must majorly suck having to apply to colleges." Well, my time has come, and, yes, it does suck.

Well, I've decided on a school. Vassar college is the school for me. I adore it. Bomb.

Here it is:
Standardized tests:
SATi: 2280
SATii's
Bio: 760
Mathii: 740
US: 640
I plan on taking the Lit satii in the fall. I'll rush the score to Vassar. For my sake, let's assume I get a 750+ on it.

In New York, everyone is required to take these silly tests called Regents. I've scored a perfect score on almost all of them, and 95+'s on the rest.

Grades:
I go to a very competitive (rich) public High School on Long Island.
u/w: 3.19 w: 3.39
note These numbers are the reason life is t3h mega sux4meh.

APs (taken four so far, taking four more next year)
English Language: 5
Biology: 5
European history: 4
US history: 3

Like most other people, I have quite a few extra curriculars, but I'll spare you having to read them by posting just a few of my personal favorites.
Drama: I've been in a total of 4 plays (1 was a musical) in my High School career, a lead in all of them. My school's drama program is quite extensive.
STAC: Student Television Arts Company. A program started about 30 years ago that is unique to my school. It's an audition-only multidisciplinary arts class that has taken up a great amount of my time and passion (3/9 periods a day since 9th grade). Got in for Writing.
Was on the ping-pong team for two years. Never managed to win anything, but I had a helluva great time.
Code. I have a few websites, all coded by me in CSS. I've "dabbled" (if even that) a little in C.

Volunteering. (~500 hours total)
This is what I am most proud of. Also what most of my essay is about. I feel this should be one of the most important things when applying to colleges and jobs, if for no other reason than to make this crazy mixed up country a little less crazy and mixed up.
Missionaries of Charity, Kolkotta, India (summer '07): 1 month
Habitat for Humanity, New Orleans (summer '06): 3 weeks
Interned at the regional Peace Corps recruiting office: 2 weeks

My essay so far (about half a page) is pretty good. I need to finish it by september 24th (going to use it for my national semifinalist essay too). Let's assume, also for my sake, that my essay ends up being awesome.

Oh, and I can yoyo really well, and I can solve a Rubik's cube in 34 seconds (current best time).

Also, I'm male and Indian.

Hm. That ended up being a little longer than I was hoping it would be. Sorry 'bout that.

Thanks and be as brutal as you would. I need to know where I stand in EDing to Vassar.

Thanks again.

You're in good shape, except for the GPA. I hate competitive schools for that reason. I heard a story that there was some kid at a university who checked mass amounts of books from the library so that others doing research papers (but the topics of the books had nothing to do with his/her own research paper, was just to prevent others from doing their work) would not be able to check them out. Shocking. Anyway, be happy to know that I have a friend had a 2020 SAT and got into Vassar RD. He had barely any ECs, but his GPA was through the roof.

Eh. My weighted GPA is a 3.29. not a 3.39. I guess my sad inner ego was trying to boost my self-confidence.

Daaannnggg, I flew back FAST.

Do you have a good explanation for why your GPA is so low compared to your test scores?
Vassar is a good choice for you because they favor males. They may just give you the benefit of the doubt.

I was going to use the "your space" section of the application to explain the disparity.

If I were to attribute it to anything, it would probably be my parents' illnesses and my brothers always leaving and going places (they're 28 and 32).

Going into 9th grade, my mom contracted breast cancer (she's ok now). Later that year, my dad was in the hospital for a few months due to hepatitis C (he's ok now too).

Pretty personal stuff.
