"you'll definitely get into Emory, it's not as hard as people are making it out to be."

I guess that's kind of you, but you are getting his hopes up. You should actually look up Emory's stats before you make statements like that.

ahaha well, i think ive heard everything on this board now...

not quite sure who to believe at this point

Doogie, it's not about who on CC to believe. Look at the numbers for the schools you want. If you're not over the 50% ask yourself if you have something they will really want. It's not so hard to figure out chances.

so why r u on CC if its so easy?

i got a 2200 on the new one (800m, 710v, 690w) and my sister got a 1420 on the old one.

somewhere inbetween there is emory's average

ok doogie, don't antagonize other posters who are trying to help. Zagat isn't even a college applicant, so that snide little remark was not only rude but off the mark.

Whoops, actually I miscalculated your GPA the first time I looked at your post, thought it was a 1400s score lol. Well, at this point the scores are really the main thing holding you back. It really doesn't matter if you went to a competitive school, that only explains the GPA (which isn't all that bad anyways). Of course, the SAT isn't going to sink you either, my friend had a 1230 with slightly weaker ECs and still got in.

Asterstar, can I join Zagat in implying you don't have a clue what you're talking about?

i dont? i barely said anything

I know many people who got into Emory and their stats/circumstances. I'm sorry to say this, but it's a big reach for you.

my sister, as i previously mentioned (however i forgot to tell you she goes to emory) wasnt that smart BUT she was very involved. and i think breaking 1350 would dramatically increase your chances. i would still definitely apply to the school. its beautiful

lol, ok why don't I have a clue as to what I'm talking about? Please explain.

The guy has strong ECs. His SAT is low...and I do apologize, sometimes I skim over these chances threads and for some reason I got dyslexic and thought the 2000+ was his actual SAT, not current.

I still believe his chances are very strong. It's true that the average SAT for Emory is higher, but they do admit around 35-40% of applicants. Also consider their yield rate...it's lower than 15%, which means that many of the higher-scoring kids are probably using Emory as a match/safety school. And his ECs are strong...

I'd say you have a 30-45% chance.

Oh yeah, if you can, show interest in the university. Visit there sometime if you can. That will boost your chances a good bit.

i live in NY bah! Lol, i gto that DVD though
