Chances at Georgetown (SFS) and Tufts

I applied to a number of other schools, but georgetown and tufts are the ones I am curious about. I have recieved a likely letter from Wellesley.

Stats:
GPA: 3.9 (unweighted)
Rank: Top 7% (18/260) rank is also unweighted, unfortunately...
SAT: 1420
SAT II: 730, 670, 650

I haven't taken any AP tests (I took AP Lang and Comp last year, but I was in China when the test was given). Besides L&C I have had AP Calculus, AP Physics, AP Literature... Besides US history (which is new this year and cannot be taken if calculus is taken) that is all the AP's offered, so I guess this is the most rigorous class schedule.

I also had a five month independent study/internship with a Criminal Court Judge. The Judge wrote me a recommendation. I completed a research paper on jury nullification for the independent study which has the possibility of being published in the Vermont Law Journal.

Extracurricular Activities: (the highlights)
*Six week program to Thailand including a 3 week homestay in a remote village plus community service project
*Three week trip to China as part of a class on Chinese culture
*Four weeks at Denali National Park in Alaska... camped in the middle of no where at the base of McKinley, Volunteer Trail work
*Governor's Institute of Vermont
*Peer Trainer
*I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Restorative Justice Center
*I'm on two reparative panels (which are panels that create "sentences" for people that have been convicted of non violent crimes - its a Vermont thing)
* Four years of Varsity Lacrosse
* Two years of Varsity Ice Hockey

Thats all I can think of right now. I realize that SFS is a long shot. I have no idea about Tufts. How are my chances? Thanks.

Dude you did god. a kid in my school got into Georgetown with similar stats. The only thing is....I go to a school in Arkansas, and you know how colleges like diversity...

I think your good to go. The only real reservation is you have low SAT II and bad rank, G-town considers rank very heavily. Your work with the Judge is quite unique and will def. help. Honestly, I have said it countless times, it is the essay that will make or break you.

Thank you both. I realize my SAT II's are not great. I asked my guidance counselor what my weighted rank would be, and he said it would be 9 out of 260. Oh well....

Georgetown's HUGE on the rank, unfortunately, and they take what you see.

The "average" Georgetown EA-admit had a 1450 SAT and was in the top 3% of their class.

I got in EA with a 4.54 cumulative GPA, ranked top 4%/554, 1400 SAT, 780/690/660 on my SATIIs, but my extra curriculars were SUPER intense and I had leadership positions in four or five clubs. They put a lot of emphasis on extra-curricular leadership, so emphasize that in your app (unless you already applied...where as...)

But good luck! Tufts, Georgetown, and Wellesley are all super schools and I'd take any of them!

I'd say you're in the ballpark for both. I don't think your rank is as low as everyone seems to be portraying it. Regardless, SFS is an excellent school, as is Tufts. But if you do decide to go to Tufts, welcome, future Jumbo :)

Thank you both. I've got my fingers crossed for both schools...
