Chances at Ivies and others?

Hey everyone, I just thought I’d make this post to get an outside opinion on what my chances are at some schools I’m thinking about.

Bio:
-Citizenship: USA
-State of residence: Wisconsin
-Ethnicity: Caucasian
-Gender: Male

School:
-Type: Private Pre K through 12 school, very small with less than 500 students in total
-Graduates: Have had graduates go to Yale, Cornell, WUStL, Barnard, Columbia, and other similar schools
-APs offered: None, just IB courses

Academic profile:
-Unweighted GPA: 3.86 (worth noting is that my school has a high A boundary: anything 95% and above qualifies as an A)
Weighted GPA: 4.21 (No weighted classes offered until 11th grade)
-AP/IB: I’m a full IB Diploma student. Have not had the option of APs. Obviously have not taken the IB exams yet
-ACT: 35 composite, only took it once
-SAT: Did not take
-SAT subject tests/SAT II: Chemistry: 800. Molecular bio: 800. Japanese: 720 (still debating whether or not to send this one)
-Rank: Not given, but I would probably put myself in the top 4 in my grade, for sure
-Course rigor: As hard as I can make it
-Current courses: IB HL American history, IB HL English LAL, IB HL Biology, IB HL Chemistry, IB SL Japanese, IB SL Mathematics, IB TOK

Extracurriculars: by importance
-1. Youth Leadership Intern at Concordia Language Villages’ Japanese camp: Essentially, took 4 weeks (5 including orientation) in minnesota at a Japanese immersion camp. Spoke ONLY Japanese to the campers for most of the day, roughly 13 hours per day. Then the other 11 hours were for English debriefing and sleep
-2. State+National Japan Bowl: Won 1st place for Wisconsin Japan Bowl and got a sponsorship to attend National Japan Bowl in DC. Got 8th there
-3. School trip to Japan: Spent 3 weeks in Japan visiting high schools and doing free travel
-4. Credit villager at Concordia Language Villages’ Japanese camp: Like the 1st activity, except I was a camper instead of a counselor. This was the year before my counselor experience and the year before that. 4 week immersion program to receive high school credit
-5. Black Belt at Infinity Martial Arts: Have been doing for 7 years
-6. Madison curling club: Have been curling for 8 years
-7. Varsity Cross country: 9th, 10th, 12th grade. Had an injury in 11th grade
-8. Led Amnesty International Elective for one semester
-9. Volunteering at my mom’s hospital in joint replacement therapy
-10. Worked at a fast food restaurant in an entry-level position

Honors:
-Japanese departmental award at my school
-Honor roll and head’s list in all high school years
-WI state Japan bowl 1st place
-National Japan bowl 8th place

Recommendations:
-I have one from a chem teacher and one from a history teacher. Chem teacher loves me and hist. teacher thinks I’m a very good student
-Have an external rec. from an employer at concordia language villages

Schools I’d like to go to (not necessarily applying): Stanford (applied here EA), Harvard, Yale, Brown, Cornell, UPenn, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Emory, Vanderbilt, Rice, WUStL

Strengths: Perhaps strong demonstrated interest in Japanese which is fairly unique, good test scores, national recognition for awards, and IB Diploma programme

Weaknesses: GPA could stand to be a little higher, I guess, but it is an upward trend.

Thank you for reading and any feedback is appreciated. I know that this website isn’t exactly an accurate way to evaluate your chances, but I would like some outside opinions about what my chances are at some of the schools I’m looking at.

Any feedback would be appreciated, please.

I’m obviously not an adcom but you look pretty qualified to me for all those schools! I’m guessing it will come down to your essays/supplements and recommendations. One of your strengths is your stats (scores, etc.) What do you want to major in? Is it related to Japanese? You definitely have some unique ecs which should probably make you stand out.

If you have time, I’d appreciate it if you could chance me back: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1999763-what-are-my-chances-for-some-ivy-league-schools-im-looking-at-penn-brown-cornell-and-dartmouth.html#latest

Good luck!

I’m thinking that I want to major in something like Chemistry or Biochemistry with a minor in Japanese, but I’m definitely considering a double major. Thank you for your feedback and I’ll go ahead and check out your post.
