For anybody who was an American who went there, do Americans have a good chance at admission?

Despairing at the stuff PurpoisePal wrote 6 years ago. Of course they no longer use corporal punishment, or make kids get up at 4. My dad went to boarding school in the UK in the early 80s and even then they couldn’t do these things. They did have strange punishments and some remenants of fagging remained, but these went a long time ago now.
The closest thing to any of the stuff talked that I know about is a severe punishment at Westminster school where the student has to stay in school from 7am to 7pm (non boarders) every day for a week.

As for Le Rosey, it may not be the best school academically in the world, but the money goes somewhere. Incredible facilities, great teaching and other perks make it worthwhile I’m sure :)

I thought it meant smoking, but an interesting read actually:

FROM WIKIPEDIA-a traditional educational practice in British boarding private schools and also many other boarding schools, whereby younger pupils were required to act as personal servants to the most senior boys. While domestic servants were common in family households, the custom reflected household task distribution and taught pupils about service from both ends of the relationship. Under school rules, fagging might entail harsh discipline and corporal punishment when those were standard practices.

Or as American public school does it: Freshmen Year.

I went to BS as a new sophomore. I guess I wanted to know what my public high school was like… Wouldn’t recommend it.
