I’m a Canadian student in grade 8 who attends a private school. I was going to apply to attend in the following school year (grade 9), but because of some family issues, I was unable to apply, so I am going to be attending another private high school for my 9th grade year.
Now, I’m going to reach out to you and ask these questions. Can anyone tell me when applications are due and if there is some sort of waiting list? I will also be applying for a scholarship, and I’ve heard that they are quite uncommon. I get 95+ in all my subjects, I am fluent in French and am learning Spanish. Every summer I go to Africa and teach less fortunate people English. I also am very advanced in sports such as skiing, boxing, swimming, and badminton.
What may or may not be on Le Rosey’s website is that, even with their very uncommon scholarship awarded, a family is still expected to contribute at least 30% toward their tuition, which is as much as full tuition of us boarding schools ~$60k. Frequent international travel and other top-of-the-world quality EC fees are also expected to be paid by the family.
"You will also be asked to provide your family’s complete financial statement attached. If the Application is accepted for Admission, this document will be submitted to the Foundation.
Financial assistance is defined on a case by case basis, based upon the family’s revenues. The amount of the scholarship granted will depend on how a family can contribute to the school fees. But please note that the parents’ contribution is usually of one third of the total school fee. In addition the extra costs are always billed to the parents: traveling to and from the school, Swiss health Insurance, pocket money, non-obligatory excursions and outings, schoolbooks and other supplies, sports equipment, all extra lessons (including extra languages and all music) as well as basic uniform. A first deposit will be requested and these expenses will be billed directly to the Parents. As a rule, the foundation does not grant full scholarships. If your parents are not able to pay for the usual above mentioned contribution and/or expenses, you must inform us on the application."
Thank you so much SculptorDad! My parents will be able to afford the above costs, however, do you know if there are any specific application deadlines or if there is a waiting list to get into the school?
• All documents will be reviewed by the Admissions Department.
• If you meet all requests, you will then be asked to sit our entrance exams. We might have a Skype interview with you prior to this.
• These exams will be organized either at Rosey or, should this be difficult due to distance and costs, in or near your country/area.
• If your results then meet the criteria to be a candidate, you may then be selected to be a future Rosey student if there is a space available in the class you wish to join.
• At this point, should a scholarship become available - the full file and the Financial statement* will be submitted to Le Rosey Foundation for a possible Scholarship. The final selection for 2015/16 will take place around February 2015 and at the same period for the following years.
You can contact the school directly to ask the questions. It will also show your interests.
Thank you soooooooooo much. One last question. How should I contact the school directly? When I emailed rosey@rosey.ch last summer, I never received a reply. When I went on the website to fill out a contact form, when I pressed send, it read, “server error”, and didn’t send the email.
