Chances at my First Choice School!!

Okay, I don't want to put a whole essay up here, so:

-GPA
unweighted: 3.9
weighted: 4.0+
(only 3 B's all of high school)
-Class Rank: top 10; #3 out of about 300ish
-ECs
varsity soccer; a couple minor awards
volunteer work: church, hospital, youth soccer camp..dont feel like listing all of them
president/founder of French Club
National Honor Society
-strong recommendtions (I think)
-I've heard my essay was pretty good, and I think I did well on the 6(!!) short response
-Now, for the nastyyy part
ACT:29
SAT:1850

So..what do you guys think?

I think you have a great chance of being admitted

i think you have a decent chance.

our stats are relatively similar, except i got a 31 on my ACT and have a few more ecs and i was accepted (although it was based on my art, not entirely on my stats)

It depends where you are from. Your test scores are on the low side, but if they were good for your high school then you should be good.

Well, I go to a public high school in Ohio;my test scores were definitely higher than others in my school (there may have been 10 or so that scored higher than me).

whats ur 2 part SAT?

Whats that?

WFU does not require SAT IIs

K thats what I thought..I only sent in my SAT reasoning and ACT's with writing.

no critical reading and math (no writing)
I dont think that Wake counts the writing section

oohh...um..1260

i had similar stats and was deferred...im praying ill get in regular decision but i doubt it

it will be tough to overcome the low gpa/act. hopefully your essay and recommendations push you over the top. good luck with the college search process.

And, if it makes a difference, I'm a first-generation college student. I don't know, someome told me it might affect my admissions.

Public school in Ohio doesn't mean a whole lot. There is a big difference between the public schools in some of the suburbs of Toledo/Columbus and the public schools in SmallTownOhio.

My school is in a suburb of Cleveland..about 20 minutes away.

Do you have anyone there pulling for you? (Coaches, etc?) What's your backup plan?

Well, I've already gotten accepted into OSU, so, if I don't get into Wake (which it seems the odds are against me), I'll go there. But, I do have one very good recommendation from my English teacher;he said my choice of medicine for a career would be "a loss of a unique writing talent". Haha CREEPER much!!

O, and here is an elaboration on my stats...seeing I seem to have left a lot of that out.

-taken the hardest courseload offered by my school
earned credit from: LCCC, U. of Findlay, Oberlin College
-won an academic letter
-honored at academic rec. ceremony every year(denotes honor roll all year)
-volunteer at St. Martins Church
-20-25 hrs/year for four years

-4 years, 2 years team coordinator
-United Way Drive Day
-2 years
-Youth League Soccer Coach, 5-6 year olds
-30-40hrs/year for 3 years
-Youth Soccer Camp Instructior
-20 hrs/year for four years
-only instructor that attended every day in every year
-Helped to organize French exchange
-only this year, so far, 15+ hours

I'm optimistic about your chances.
