Pomona is my dream school, I really want to go there!

Forgot to add that I'm Asian, from a low income family, and the first generation to go to college (my sister was the first in our family), parents didn't graduate from high school in Korea.

I also took Oceanography at local community college and I along with a few of my friends started our schools first ocean science bowl team.

hmm to me it looks like you have a good chance!
Good luck! =)

seriously? Because from what I hear average SATs are 2200+ for Pomona..

Yeah you look good overall except for your sat scores - you should still give it a shot though, everything else is solid

If you are refering to Cal Poly Pamona, I can't see how in the world you would be rejected. My cousin goes there and your ststs are laps better than his. He is not the only case. While he is a smart kid, I know a couple of people who are practically braindead who go there. Not that its a bad school, but its not difficult to get into. You'll get in.

actually i'm talking about Pomona College

pomona's board scores are insanely high - i believe 730 median for verbal and 720 for math.

while your sat scores are below their usual range of admitted students, it's an LAC so they're concentrate more on your essays, recs, ec's, etc. also, i don't know how the adcoms are going to be looking at your ORM status + first generation to go to college from a low income family. from what i can tell, it's a slight reach/reach depending on how well you present the rest of your application in lieu of your test scores. also, express interest. pomona loves that.
