Chances at Pton

hey,

I'm hoping you guys can take a look at my stats and give me an idea of my chances at Princeton, ED

okay so I live in Sydney, Australia and I go to a top school in my state. I rank about 5 - which I'll work hard to maintain - but that's only out of 170

my grades are excellent, except for two low marks, one in the ninth grade, one this year. I'm first in about five of my six subjects - two english classes, history, french, economics

I take a philosophy course at a university, and I'm taking two AP exams this may - french and comp. govt + politics - so I'm hoping I'll do well there

I took the SAT reasoning last year, end of sophomore year (Australia has a different school year) and I got a 2270

CR: 800
W: 770
M: 700

I'll retake it this october - I think writing could come up to 800, and math to maybe 760. I got an 800 on the SAT french subject test. I'll be taking the SAT literature in june, hoping for a 780 at least, and math IIC in october - I could get maybe a 750

ECs:

I've done a fair bit, so I'll just list my activities briefly

that's all I can think of right now. thanks so much :)

great chances.

First off, Sydney is absolutely awesome, I visited last summer and fell in love with the place. I'm thinking of studying abroad there if I get the opportunity. You're super lucky.

Second, I really can't see anything you could have done better. Just keep on doing what your doing. However, the valedictorian and salutorian of my class both got rejected from Yale and Princeton, and they had pretty much everything - Stats, ECs, Schedule... the only thing they were missing was a hook. So, while I think you have a good shot, you have a good shot by Ivy standards - less than 10% acceptance rate.

Best of luck.

Thanks kevdude, yes Sydney is a nice place :) You can definitely come, I know a lot of US students are studying here.

Okay, I appreciate the encouragement. I know the Ivy acceptance rates are insanely low, so I'll never have that great a shot, but if I've done everything I could that's something at least.

Can anybody find a potential hook in what I wrote?

That thing with Afghanistan sounds pretty great in my opinion.

So, I'm curious, what's the most prestigious school in Australia? Acceptance rate? I'll go for sure if I can.

lol, a chance to talk about schools in australia :) it depends what you mean by prestigious. my school is academically very prestigious, for example, but most ppl here I'd say equate prestigious with expensive, so you'd probably get an answer like geelong grammar, which is where prince charles went :P

oh, but did you mean high schools or universities?
