Chances at selective schools?

GPA: 3.8 (unweighted, my school doesn't do weighted)
Rank: As of end of junior year, top 10% (school stopped doing rankings this year, so this isn't positive, but my school is pretty well known for being a good school and there's a LOT of competition between students for #1)
ACT: 34 Composite, 35 English and Writing, 34 Science, 30 Math
SAT: 2020 (might not submit since ACT scores are significantly better)

Course load: (Took every advanced class available to me and that could fit in my schedule, and I got As (90s) in every course except for an 89 in one course one semester)

Plans for major: Probably biology, possibly biochemistry, with plans to continue on to grad school

Current schools I'm considering: University of Rochester, Cornell, Brown, Boston University, Georgetown, Northeastern, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Binghamton, UC Berkeley, Harvard, NYU, Caltech (No, I don't plan on applying to ALL these schools; I'm still indecisive about some)

I also have taught myself Korean and computer science/web design languages (HTML, PHP, CSS, Java, etc.) in my spare time which I explain in my application as well

You definitely would get rejected at some of the elites, but you might get into some of them too.

Keep all of the following on your list:

 • University of Rochester
 • Boston University
 • Northeastern
 • Rochester Institute of Technology
 • SUNY Binghamton

Then add whatever elites you wish, with the understanding that the list above is much closer to what you will attend. You probably would get into all of them, but you never can tell.

What you said is essentially what I was expecting myself, but none of my older siblings, friends, or parents applied to these schools so it’s hard for me to know. Thank you for your input!
