Chances at Syracuse Newhouse School

Okay, I know it's EXTREMELY hard to get accepted, but I was wondering if anyone could give a shot at my chances.

Alright, academically, no, I would have no chance, but I have very strong non-academic credentials that I feel could set me apart.

My GPA is about 3.5 and my SATs are iffy.

This is what it will look like come Senior year (Im a junior)

-2 years school Newspaper
-2 years writing for an NFL (National Football League) scouting agency. The top one of the country. Working for this company is like working for the Harvard of scouting companies and I'm only 17.
-2 years writing for the NFL draft preview magazine for a MAJOR sports magazine (I can't disclose who do to contract obligations)
-1 year for an independent draft website
-Several national radio appearences so-far (ESPN Radio national appearence, ESPN radio in Baltimore, and other various stations in Reno, St. Louis, Richmond etc...
-1 TV appearence on Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN); I will also be doing more.
-My letters of recommendation will most likely be from higher-ups within ESPN, several famous radio anchors, the boss of my company and more

I don't know if any of you know who Mel Kiper is, but I've basically been dubbed the next him.

What do you all think of my chances?

Like, I'm not trying to brag or be cocky or anything, but.... I'm pretty big ***** amongst the field of NFL scouting.

Everyone always talks about how alot of times schools will take the "Unique" student over the super academics kid. I think I could be that case.

Besides all of this, I also do alot of work with tourette syndrome (Which I have)

Also, what about Missouri?

good chances id say... i assume you want to do sports journalism or sports broadcasting? if you have time, raise the SATs, but i dont think itd be that big of a deal

amazing EC's but need to know SAT. My friend ED for SI Newhouse His SATs were poor and ECS were good. He was deferred(probably not rejected b/c of his EC's)

My SATs are iffy

My projection:
Math-540
Verbal-560
Writing-600

I project it like this:
Missouri-Accepted; not directly into their journalism program
Syracuse-Deferred; then rejected
Ohio-Accepted directly into their journalism program

u have really strong EC's ur SATs are low but its not the end of the world... my whole fam went to syracuse practically but no1 in newhouse..but wat ive heard is that EC's really help..esp leadership positions..esp if ur a junior try to raise ur GPA to makeup for ur SAT scores..and write REALLY good essays and definitly have an interview...and when you fill out the app you can put down ur other choice schools within cuse and then try to transfer..my sister had a bunch of friends do that...my gpa is the same as urs..my SATs are 1210/1830 which isnt much better..I'm the EIC of my yearbook and i have legacy..so my stats aren't much better..but we'll see what happens next month...good luck

Kimmzi,

Thanks for the advice!

In terms of leadership positions, I have been multiple ones within B'Nai Brith Youth Organization, I have also been a counselor at a pre-school camp as well as two year's as a counselor at a Tourette Syndrome camp (Which I have)

Also, what do yall think are my chances at...

Ohio University
Missouri
USC
American (Dad is an alumnus)

Also, what are some of the top broadcast journalism schools ...

Please,

don't say Maryland and Wisconsin, those are two schools that I REFUSE to go to

After some solid reserach, I narrowed it down to eight schools I plan to apply to

Syracuse

Missouri

Ohio

Southern California

Indiana

Nevada-Reno

Washington State

Ohio State

If anyone wants to post their predictions, please, go ahead!!

i really dont know much about the other schools besides the fact that u will most likely get into Indiana (i dont know nething abot the other schools really). my first choice schools i applied to for communications (advertising and pr) are Syr, BU, Ithaca and Penn State...and i have gotten into Ithaca and Penn state and deferred from BU..those schools all have communications schools..the others that i applied to are more or less programs in arts and sciences...so look into those schools for broadcast journalism..ithaca and penn state seem to be in ur range...but Newhouse is the best program for broadcast journalism lol

Thanks!!!!

Forgot to mention, I might be getting an internship senior year with a radio station
