I have a 1210 SAT and 3.6 GPA, I was wondering if I even had a shot at UMBC? I applied for the comp sci program.
You’re going to need to give more info. Is that gpa weighted or unweighted? What are your ECs? Any hooks? Your SAT is average for UMBC, but you need to give more info if you want anyone to chance you.
Ah ok, my apologies. That’s unweighted I believe? I go to a private school in the middle of NY and they do their grades a bit odd. (Our GPA’s only go up to 4.0)
As for EC’s I have logged 100 service hours, but have more. I also am currently working with the dean of academics at my school to build a STEM board at my school, which I thought would boost the comp sci interest.
As for hooks, if out of state, being female and/or LGBT count, that’s what I’ve got.
How rigorous have your classes been? Honors? AP? How many?
That’s still not enough info, but I’d say UMBC is a slight reach from the info you’ve given. You gpa (I’m guessing UW since it’s out of 4.0) is low, but your SAT and ECs are fine. What are your classes like?
