Chances at Vassar? Please help!!!

Please. Please. Please help me. I'm so scared - I feel like I completely screwed up my chances at good colleges in my junior year.

Basically all the way through freshman and sophomore year i had a really good GPA -- unweighted 3.9-3.8 -- and then in junior year I did extremely badly. The course load i took was really hard (especially Physics and Precal - I'm really not a math person) and in addition my mom died and my dad got remarried this year so I was kind of emotionally unstable lol.

Right now my weighted cumulative GPA is 3.8 but our school really weights the GPA very little (APs are only weighted 4.2 more and there is no such thing as an A+) so I think the unweighted would be around 3.5 though I'm not sure.

I'm attending an extremely competitive private international school in Asia

My SAT score is 2150 right now (asd;lfaksdl) but I'm going to retake it in fall and I'm aiming for over 2300. I've always gotten over 2200 on PSATs so I really don't know what happened with that. It was really unexpected. I'm really worried about this though :/

I'm waiting on my SAT subject score on USH to come out but I'm reasonably confident I did okay. HOWEVER that is the only SAT 2 I have so far :/ I've taken bio before but I stupidly cancelled because it was in sophomore year and I had unrealistic expectations of 800s all the way... I'm studying for Math 2c and Bio to retake them in fall. lol so i basically only have 1 shot at them if i'm applying early.

By the end of senior year I'll have taken: AP Bio, AP Language, AP USH, AP Psych, AP Lit, AP French, AP Stat. I got a 5 for AP Bio and I'm still waiting on AP Lang, USH, and Psych. However I think I screwed USH...

I'm very into English and I've always gotten A in English and I've always taken the highest possible level of English course. In addition I've taken Digital Journalism this year and next year I'm taking Advanced Digital Journalism which is basically our school's "newspaper" except there are no positions. We just make newscasts, but the class is known for being really demanding and the teacher writes amazing recommendations. I've been to BEIMUN press this spring and I've been accepted as an assistant-editor to THIMUN press this fall. I won an essay writing competition in sophomore year.

I founded a club called Disabled Parking Club that takes part in community service trips to help the disabled and also raises money via bake sales, car washes etc. All my community service also revolves around helping the disabled and the club works in conjunction with this established hospital for the disabled.

I'm president of Project Global Cooling which is a club dedicated to helping the environment. I'm also part of NHS - and head of the NHS group called 'Project Green' which also focuses on the environment.

Is Vassar possible?? Would it be better to apply early and risk it or to apply later once I've (HOPEFULLY) figured out my SATs and gotten a better GPA in first semester? :/ Would it be better to apply as a journalism major or a French major - which is probably less competitive? gah... do i even have a chance at all.....??

What should I do this summer??

PLEASE help...... I feel so behind....

Your SAT scores is okay, though getting a 2210+ would put you above the average. I’m assuming that your USH score came out already. Well, I guess you’d be fine SAT-wise. You only need two subject tests, by the way, and this college superscores.

You’ll probably ace the application essay and recommendations, so I’m assuming that you won’t be worrying much about that.

Are you applying as an International student…?

ECs look okay, and I’d suggest applying for journalism major. Your interests seem to point that way more. You seem to have talent, so I’m pretty sure you have a chance. I’m not sure whether or not you should apply early though, considering you have two months worth of tests left to go.

I guess you already know that you should study for SATs/get a job or internship/etc for the summer. You can also try getting a headstart on your application. Or search for other colleges.
