Hello everyone. I am new to CC. I am writing to get your input on my chances at Wharton RD. So, here is a little about me:

I am an African American male senior high school student. I lost my father a couple years ago before entering high school. I am very involved with my community. I am the president of my church youth department. I started a tutoring program at my school. I tutor/mentor underprivileged youth elsewhere. I volunteer at a nursing home. I feed the homeless. I sing in the church youth choir. I am ranked in the top 1% of the first graduating class at my school in south Florida. I am taking the hardest course load (IB). I am currently taking AP Calculus BC. My SAT’s aren’t so stellar, however. I received 590 M, 590 V, 600 W.

I would appreciate if you could give me any honest opinions. Thank you.

You're an admit. There were many African Americans who got in with scores like yours, maybe a little higher. If you have a good gpa and good recs, you're definitely in. So lucky you're URM

it'd be good if you could raise those test scores a bit. and then you'd be a lock. well nobody's a lock in the ivy league but you def have a lot going for you. your motivation/passion/drive in life to take on new challenges and such will show through your EC's and the things you've done outside the classroom. however, maintain a good gpa and the class rank you've achieved so far...and preferably your test scores would be closer to 700 in each section, if not more. then i'd say you were 99% set. :) good luck!

Well babycakes he says he's a senior so the decision is already made (and it's coming in 2 1/2 weeks, eek)--he's just asking what his chances of acceptance are.

yeah...unfortunately, as Mallomar said, im a senior, which means i can't retest. So yeah i have to anxiously await March 29. By the way, my unweighted GPA is a 3.84, and my weighted is a 5.84 --Taking AP Classes and IB Classes really helps :-)
