Wharton will be a reach. Are you applying ED?

Your SAT score is rather low and your extracurriculars, while impressive, don’t have the it factor. Try to do something to set yourself apart from the crowd.

I am applying ED.

i have only taken the SAT twice, I will take it again If i need to.

Take the SAT again if you are sure your score will improve.

My advice about extracurriculars still stands.

Good scores on the APs will help you, but less than good scores can ruin you.

Other than that, I have no comments. If anyone else can respond…

Good luck!

Are there any ivy league schools that you still think I would have somewhat of a shot?

Not Harvard, or Yale, or Princeton.

Dartmouth, Cornell, and Brown are low reaches.

I thought only the top three finishers in Euro Challenge got awards.

I hope you realize the person giving you “advice” to retake the SAT and that “less scores on the AP can ruin you” is a rising freshman or sophomore in HS. Please disregard this advice. Apply and see what happens, none of us can really chance you and the advice you’ll get will be all over the map. I’m telling you this as someone who has gotten into HYPSM type schools. We all have different strengths that make us hopefully attractive to the schools we apply to. You need to keep honing yours and then try to make sure that you have a consistent narrative to your application. Good luck!

@anthropologyanya There is no school in the world where 2330 with 800M would be considered “low.”

OP, your stats are in the range needed to be competitive for admission anywhere. Knock your essays out of the park and see what happens.

@anthropologyanya A couple bad AP scores won’t “ruin” anybody. Also, 2330 is higher than 75% of the incoming freshman at UPenn. OP, don’t retake the sat, there is no point in doing so (coming from someone with same score as you). Anthropologyanya, where are you getting this info? And what is your sat score? Hopefully not below such a paltry 2330.

How are my Ecs. Will chance back.

I apologize if my posts were taken in the wrong way; my opinion was that a 2330 SAT score was a bit too low for a major chance of admission, especially as Wharton is more competitive than the rest of the university and I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. I still think you should apply, and should have said that in my post.

Also, I suppose a few bad AP scores will be fine; I meant bad scores on the majority of them can lower your chances. Can, not necessarily will.

No we took your opinion the right way @anthropologyanya . We’re just wondering in what alternate universe do you believe that a 2330 isn’t extremely competitive? Do you think admissions officers will care about a 70 point difference? I swear CC has test score syndrome…

I suppose my opinion is that the Ivy League schools are too competitive for any SAT score too be considered extremely competitive.

@anthropologyanya an SAT score alone absolutely won’t get you into any top school. What they likely do, however, is ensure that you’ve met the requirements to be considered as a competitive applicant.

And 2330 is absolutely high enough for that. You’re a sophomore (apparently?) and I don’t know if you’ve taken the SAT/had experience with SAT testing yet, but when it comes time, you’ll realize that the difference between a 2330 and a 2400 could be as few as two or three incorrect questions. There isn’t some magic plus from getting a 2400 rather than a mid 2300–these schools reject something like 80% of kids with perfect SATs. Once you’ve hit the threshold, it’s past stats and down to the intangibles. There’s a reason why H/Y/S and co have 25th/75th percentiles in the range of around 2180 - 2350 rather than 2350 - 2400, and that’s because, once you’re past the base threshold, the relevance of higher test scores plummets.

@OP: again, stick with the 2330; it’s better than appearing to be a pedant over those last 70 points. Everything in your application is in the range of accepted students. Will you be accepted? Maybe–when schools admit 10% of the kids who apply, they can afford to pick and choose amongst applicants like yourself. I think you’re a competitive applicant at any school in the US, and if you present yourself well in your essays, you’ll come out of the admissions game just fine.
