I did astro in 2002 at lancaster 1st session. My instructor was Doug Kellogg and the TA was named Jason I think. I can't say I remember if he was Texan.

Nevermind, I thought you attended CTY at JHU's campus. I thought the class was fun and very interesting. It's okay if you're instructor was not Texan!

My school doesn't rank students. If you aren't familiar with the 4.4 unweighted system, A+ is 4.4, A is 4, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.4, etc. The 3.8 is all the college will see though.

the 3.8 unweighted seems solid based on the system you put up. Yale is a reach for everybody, but it is near impossible to get in w/o being ranked really high. You should have a feel for it regardless if an actual rank is posted.

I'd estimate that I'm about 90th percentile in my class of around 340. I actually have a ridiculously smart class, which isn't good for anyone. Oh well.

Heheh, CTY, awesome. And you got the exact same breakdown of scores as I did on the SAT I too...

Anyways, your test scores are pretty much fine. Does your school not offer many APs? If it doesn't, you're set there as well, but if it does, people may be concerned by the fact that you've only taken 2. ECs are interesting and varied... there's not much leadership though. Your strength in those essay contests will help you either a lot or just a little depending on their competitiveness. I would put Harvard as Big Reach, the rest of the top few as Reach, and below Cornell as Safety (well, except JHU.) I'd say your shot at Yale is pretty good though, considering SCEA and legacy.

Two AP's are available to juniors: US history and statistics. I took US history, but since stat didn't fit in my schedule I just read the textbook and took the test.
