I am currently a sophmore in high school and wanted to see if anyone could tell me what my chances are at a school such as Yale or Brown?
I am currently taking 1 AP, Junior year I will be taking 4, and 4 again senior year. I play tennis and am going to have been on the varsity team for 3 years once I graduate high school (JV freshman year). My grades are good but not extraordinary, 3.9 unweighted, 4.1 weighted, however this was freshman year when I was taking no AP's. I also am the historian for my schools art club, a member of the photo club and the literary magazine. Also, I started my own club at my school that helps out with elderly people in our community. I have played viola since the 5th grade and been a member of districts since the 7th grade, and will (hopefully) participate in all states junior and senior year. I volunteer at the local senior center every weekend and also travel to New Orleans for a week every summer to help repair homes that have been damaged by Katrina. Also this summer I was selected for a writing program that I will be published for, and I also receive a stipend at the end. I hope to do this annually until I leave for college.
So, does anyone have any ideas of my chances? I am worried that I appear too scattered because I have not necessarily excelled in any of the activities that I participate in. Could anyone help me out with determining my chances of acceptance, or with any tips on how I could improve for when it is time to apply?
Thanks!
ALSO I WILL CHANCE BACK IF YOU POST THE LINK DOWN BELOW!

It’s obviously a bit hard to chance a Sophmore, especially since you don’t have your test scores because if they’re low it can be a real dealbreaker.

I’d also say work on your ECs, there’s nothing that really jumps at me. The writing thing is cool though. You really need to pick a few things and really just devote yourself to them.

I’d say Brown is a lower reach and Yale is a High Reach.

I have to echo what Harrovian said above. It’s hard to chance someone without test scores. If they’re good you put yourself in really high contention for both schools; if they are sub-par then it may not even be worth applying. Considering you ARE aiming for these schools, I presume you’ll do above average to great on your testing.

Definitely do commit to a couple activities you want to take to the next level. Show some leadership and extra initiative, and that’ll really wow them! All in all, I think it’s great a sophomore is showing such initiative to get on to CC and receive feedback at such a young age.

Brown - low reach/reach
Yale - high reach

Start studying for SAT I and II and/or ACT next summer. You will need to score close to 2250+ for top Ivies. Great start!
