My biggest Interest however is my T.V. show on public access tv. In the summers i produce, direct and host my own tv show. I founded the show and i fund it through my work directing other tv shows. I have interview some very famous journalists and a US senator.

I will get good recs and my essay will be about my show.

I am a white male from in colorado. i go to a competative boarding school.

My father went upenn undergrad and yale grad(does this make me a legacy at yale.

I am interested in yale, harvard, upenn, brown, g-town, princeton, middlebury, dartmouth, and amherst

I would apply early to yale or upenn if i thought i had a decent chance of getting in.

where are your safeties/matches? those schools are extremely difficult for anyone to get into

What boarding school do you go to Colorado?

Your essay about your show will be what makes or breaks your app. As I'm sure you know, your numbers won't get you in (in fact, I think you may need a 34/35 on the ACT to have a chance). Your GPA isn't stellar but it's passable. Your EC's are decent. The only thing that makes you stand out is your show. That could turn out to be a huge hook. Good luck!

I agree with Meatlovers, although even if you only get a slightly lower ACT (33 or so), but good scores on the APs, you might be able to get into Georgetown, especially if you focus your essay on political aspirations/interest.

IMHO you have too many ECs, and not enough focus on just a few that are really important to you. (I like the fact that you have so many ECs that are in leadership, but on your essay you will have to answer a question like why you have all these leadership positions in so many areas--wouldn't you be better able to make important contributions with only a few?--this is what the admissions people will be wondering). And you should show how you are trying to do political things in high school--did you work to improve your local environment?; is your TV show focused on rallying people to causes you care strongly about?, etc. This is what people reading your application will be looking for.

As an URM you probably have better chances than most, but I'd start planning for that SAT right now--taking a seminar in the summer or whatever. And I'd also start getting your show to somehow accomplish something you care about--and that will look good on next year's college application.

One last thing--never, never, never take a SAT or ACT without prep. The schools get all the scores--and even if you improve tremendously on later sittings of the exams, the admission committee will look at those lower scores and wonder whether they better reflect your actual ability better than the later, higher scores or if they actual reflect a lazy attitude in not preparing for the exam. Either way you lose;--so prepare in advance every time.

Good luck!
