Yale and Stanford are pretty much my first two picks and have always been that way. I've researched both extensively and have been on the Stanford campus numerous times and I'm planning to visit Yale this summer. Here are my stats so far as a junior.

Asian female
California resident
Upper middle class (not always this way)
Naturalized American citizen (came to the country at age 3)
Currently a junior (class of 2007)
4.0 UW GPA, 4.0W freshman year, 4.31W sophomore year, 4.86W junior year
Currently ranked about 2/700 but #1 has a 5.0 simply because he TAs and gets a pass so it won't count for GPA-weighting whereas I have Jazz Choir and have an A.

Scores:
SAT first try as a junior: 770M, 800CR, 800W (10 essay though. Should I bother retaking?)
SATIIs: 800MII as a sophomore (hopefully balances the 770), planning on taking Chem & French next month (both will be good scores, even though I might have to retake to get there)
APs: so far a 5 in AP Euro, planning on 5s this year in all of my AP classes

Extracurriculars (major things marked with an asterick, ranked in order of personal importance):
*4 years of KEY Club (member during first 2 years, Volunteer Projects Chair during 3rd year, hopefully president 4th)
*3 years of Breaking Down the Walls (program leader during sophomore year -- first year program at school, program leader junior year, program leader & club officer hopefully senior year)
*2 years as a volunteer at a hospital's rehabilitation center (junior & senior years, lots of patient interaction, approximately 250 hours by beginning of senior year)
*3 years of lacrosse (JV sophomore year, we'll see about junior year, Varsity senior year)
*1 year as a volunteer at another hospital (senior year, lots of patient interaction)
*Hopefully 1 summer at an intern at a hospital
*1 year National Honor Society (veryyyy selective club of only the best seniors at the school, tutoring almost everyday at lunch)
*4 years as Citylights volunteer (community volunteer program)
*4 years of Mu Alpha Theta, aka Math Honors Society (member years 1-3, hopefully on board year 4)
*2 years president & founder of Current Events Club (jr + sr years)
4 years of French Club (member years 1-4)
3 years CSF (open only to sophomores and above, club not active)
2 years vice president of Health & Science Newsletter (club almost nonexistent though; junior & senior years)

Freshman & Sophomore year: 175 hrs of community service

Uniqueness:
Spent 2 weeks teaching an English class of 30 students who were 1-2 years younger than me in China
Skipped part of 1st grade, part of 2nd so a year younger age-wise (will this help me in any way?)
Moved around every year in elementary school (will this help me?)

As you can see from my extracurriculars, they're pretty focused (generally on medicine & volunteering), except for the lacrosse piece (a sport that I love and would love continuing in college but only on a club/intermural scale). I hope to major in biology (for premed) and it truly is something I feel a passion for. I'll have probably some great (maybe 1 or 2 outstanding) teacher recommendations. Essays will be top-of-the-notch spectacular.

I guess the only thing left to say is....what are my chances?
