Welcome, Audre! Give yourself plenty of time on your essays, as other have said. Have you visited and interviewed yet?

ive just visited so far, but my parents want me to go to University of Chicago for the interview. (not like a local interview with an alumni)

yea, you. some of the things you say (scroll up) are really, really, really...you know.

ill be going to college as well this fall, into my number 1 choice anywhere. i've already been reading books written by a few of my professors and i'll tell you now that i wouldn't want to be anywhere else. of course, this place is UofC, the highest i could aim for my major. yea, you're clueless.

shrug whatever, i just said that U Chicago isnt so hard to get into. doesnt mean it cant be a phenomenal school. for econ, its pretty damn good, id go there over cornell.

but ill be attending princeton, so whatever.

ok? UofC is still better than princeton in econ and a bunch of other departments (and princeton better than UofC in some other departments too). so why bring in cornell? no real UofC student think you are any better for attending princeton so why brag?

i dont think im any better. i just got lucky. UofC is NOT better than princeton at econ, or much else. in fact, USNWR has about 5 schools tied at #1 for econ, which includes UofC, Princeton, and Harvard.

im sorry i caused animosity, that wasnt intended. your first response somewhat startled me. lets just be friends =)

P.S. i brought in cornell because the two students going there from my school applied early to brown and cornell. just making a comparison about where UofC people apply. believe me, i respect the school. are you going to UofC? if so i doubly apologize.

we are already friends, lol. good luck at princeton.

haha k, good luck at chicago. youll do great.

Quick Update:
I got a 5 on my AP Bio exam but a 4 on my AP Lang. and Lit. exam
I have also moved to #5 in my class

*Lang. and Comp.

Maybe you should spell out more info on that research internship in the sciences when you actually do your application....what is was, how long, whether it led to a paper or presentation, etc. Research opportunities outside the high school classroom can often give you a real edge.

Does anyone have any suggestions for safety schools? I have thought of a few but I'm not sure if they are too safety or not enough. I was looking at Colgate and Haverford. Let me know if you can think of any good ones for my stats. Thanks.

University of Rochester and Case would be very likely admits (with likely merit aid) for you. Brandeis is slightly harder to predict, but is an interesting schools with an intellectual edge. Wesleyan would be a match, also.

Thanks, any other suggestions on safety schools?

yeah audre2564, i think brandeis would be really good!

Does she go to AAST? That would be impressive.

what is that?

Your ECs show some focus on languages and cultures, so that is good. You may be able to amplify that with the essays, interview, and recommendations. I think that you will be admitted. Colgate and Haverford have little in common with Chicago, so I'm not sure why you have selected them as safeties.

AAST - Academy for the Advancement of Science and Technology, one of the 7 (or is it 8 now) public magnet schools of the Bergen County Academies in Bergen County, New Jersey.

(this IS what you're refering to right?)

I think you have a good shot..Write a good uncommon essay!! ^-^

I Got In!!!!!!!!!!!
