Please give an honest opinion. I completely understand that at a certain point things become uncertain, but am I qualified and do I stand a chance?

If I had to say my two biggest weaknesses I would say they would be not being in the top 10% of my class and not having any major award such as National Merit.

Thank you so much in advance

bump, please

You did everything right, it’s in God’s hands now.

With good essays, you have a shot at most, depending on rigor at your school, etc. Are you recruitable in football? And what’s your financial situation? Can you afford all of these?

I think you’d be a match for USC and BU, if either school appeals–both have great business schools (if you’d like to round out your matches). You might get merit at USC, and possibly some money based on preferential packaging from BU.

Harvard, Dartmouth and Chicago do not offer undergrad business. What would you major in at those schools?

@TomSrOfBoston I would major in economics

I actually am curious in what “Student Ambassador” is. What is that exactly? How did you become a part of it through school? Is it just a thing your school does? What do you mean students shadow you? Sorry, I just would like you to reflect on what exactly that is. (Out of total curiosity)

@bloxJacket the program overall has students who want to give guided tours and allow prospective students to follow them around for a day, however, I have been more involved and have given multiple speeches in front of prospective parents ect.

your activities are amazing!! They are solid, and definitely show ur abilities especially when it comes to business. In addition, by doing MIT launch, I feel like you have a pretty good chance at MIT. Of course, your scores are extremely solid. The fact that you upped your rigor in senior year also seems to be important to colleges (as said by college administrators), thus I feel like you have a pretty good chance!!

Good luck!

Just curious how you know what your GPA will be after semester 7 and how you know what GPA will be needed to be in the top 10% after semester 7?

I’m assuming the 4.22 is what the current cutoff is for the top 10%. You are hoping that your GPA will increase because you are benefiting from taking lots of AP and Honors classes. The problem is, the people that are currently in the top 10% are likely doing the same thing, and their GPA is likely to rise as well.

Unless you come from a super competitive high school, not being in the top 10% or even being barely in the top 10% could be a problem for some of the top schools you plan on applying to.

Not having an award like National Merit is not a big deal. I don’t think most of the schools give much weight at all to being a National Merit Finalist as all it means is you were able to score well on one test. Most will put more weight on your academic performance and the difficulty of your course work in high school.

@GraceDad I recalculated my GPA with semester 7 grades assuming I keep my grades where they are at now. I actually am taking the most difficult schedule of anyone in my school 5 APs while only a select few in my school are taking even 4. Thank you I appreciate it, doing my best considering the situation and giving myself the best shot possible.
