well if you try changing majors even within college of engineering, you might have to take extra classes that might make you graduate only within 5 years or more. Apparently the first 2 years is when you start taking your major-related courses, unlike other colleges where you complete your GE’s in your first 2 years.

Within any college and within the whole university, it’s easier to switch into majors that were less competitive initially. For example, an aero admit can switch to environmental or even out of engineering to finance lets say easier than a finance major or environmental can move to aero.

That’s a roundabout way of saying that you can’t easily game the system to gain admission into a program you wouldn’t have been admitted into in the first place.

Clear as mud? :)

youre def in

btw with a gpa of 4.08, and an act score of 35, do you think i can get in ED cal poly slo, if i have really really average EC’s?

Cal Poly doesn’t weight ECs very highly in its application algorithm. You have a very good chance of ED admission with your GPA and ACT score.

Don’t worry about EC’s. There is a very small spot for them on the application and doesn’t really have an impact on their decision of you have a good gpa and test scores which you do.

Well hello, thank you for chancing me! I noticed we are both in love with slo and are applying ED. I hope we both get in! If you get act of 26-28 you could apply as an easier eng. major like general eng. then transfer! Keep it up

In order to move at Poly, you essentially go through the same process as admission. In general, moving from AE or ME to environmental or materials is easier than doing it the other way. Being admitted and doing well is no guarantee of ability to change major.

is it true that a summer class at local community colleges counts as 2 semesters of weighted class? so for example if i took intro to business 10 (6-week course) at a local CC, it would be the same as 2 semesters of an AP class right?

bump 10char

@tigerash:

Credits vary from location to location. Generally Cal Poly is conservative when it comes to giving out credit. It would be wise to assume it would only transfer 4 or less credits.

You can see what (California) college credits transfer at: [ASSIST Prompt Page](http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/CPSLO.html)

For colleges not on that list, you’ll have to submit a course substitution request.

oh i think i worded my question badly. i meant to ask if it counts as 2 semesters per CC class, so that my weighted gpa can increase more?
