I dont have alot of EC's because track & football plus the ones I have take up alot of my time, my rank is not 1 or 2 but I think its decent. Any feedback or advice would be great..Just trying to see if a brotha can get in..

I was also wondering how good Harvey Mudd's financial aid packages are? Considering I will need some type of financial aid..

THANK YOU

You look really good for Mudd. Excellent shot. I would encourage you to apply for the Corporate Scholars program, as I feel you have a good chance at that.

Thanks alot.. How many people actually apply for the Corporate Scholars program??

I am not sure. I think at least 100. It is pretty competitive, but you definitely have an above average shot at it, and certainly an above average shot at Harvey Mudd itself.

You have a very good shot.

You'd have a very good shot even if you were a white or asian male. Don't let up in your senior year!

Don't worry about the ECs--you have extremely high quality to make up for the quantity. The amount of time involved in competing in track at the level evident from some quick googling is readily apparent. (And football on top of it?!)

I looked at some of your other posts--make sure that Mudd has the majors you are interested in. Like your ECs, Mudd has few entries, but very high quality in them.

If you apply to Mudd, definitely apply for CSP. From an outsider's perspective, you present everything that they appear to be looking for, including great academic record.

I was also wondering how good Harvey Mudd's financial aid packages are? Considering I will need some type of financial aid..

Ill comment on this.

As others have mentioned you are a good candidate for the CSP, which is a full ride scholarship (pretty sweet eh).

However, if that were to not pan out, HMC has pretty good finaid. Although I was bitter about their package as a frosh admit, come around transfer season I really warmed up to them when I realized what I would get as well as what other colleges were trying to give me. I ended up with 9500 from HMC, 1700 from U of CHicago, and like 400 from Cornell, which made the decision especially easy since HMC was my top choice anyways.

wow ok thanks alot seiken for your reply! You recieved a really nice finaid package!!

perhaps, i was actually offered more the previous year, but I guess it was not enough given my particular situation 15 months ago. The other nice thing is that HMC actually worked with my dad to completely fill out his loan package, so whatever is not covered by need aid I am getting in parental loans (which he will pay off if he can right away, but now he has leeway)

edit- also note that if ur SAT scores are above 750M 700V and 700W you get 10k off your sticker price since u meet the rank requirement.

Not sure if it was a typo, but you got an 800 on math 1, you need to take math 2. From HMC website:

All freshman applicants must sit the ACT or SAT and 2 SAT subject tests: Math2 and a second subject of your choice.
