-short explanation on recs/essays
Recs would be terrific, I think, because I have a great relationship with my enlgish teacher and my counselor who understands my goals and ambitions.
Essays, I'll just say that I have a interesting, maybe risky, topic to write about..

-Misc
I am not an international as I got my permanant residency from my dad, so would coming from
a differnt country be considered by colleges? Perhaps put me in a disadvantage, or an advantage?

I don't even have a distinctive college list, but this is my general list:
(Prospective business admin/international relations/psychology major - actually undecided =)

Early:
Wharton ED- just hopefully...
U Mich- rolling
U Chicago EA

Regular:
UCs(B, LA, SD, I)
USC
Fordham
NYU Stern
Dartmouth =/
George Washington U or American U
Grinnell
Pomona, Claremont Mckenna - either one..
Georgetown
Emory

I'd also love some recommendations for other colleges, not so picky, but would prefer a
very small and interactive community.

Thank you !

B u m p? ? ? ?

coming from a different country would be an advantage and a disadvantage.
The competition is rough for internationals...but then again it makes you stand out...I would say disadvantage over anything else...

So from Korea huh? I hear so much bad stuff about Korea (Like from Koreans, lots of Koreans around here)...not like bad as in like they're awful people, like bad as in...in school you have NO social life(everything is study study study) and everything is so expensive...
All the Native Born Koreans tell me this(adult and Child alike)...you may have a different opinion...just what I hear.
anyways:
assuming you Live in CA
you should get into
UCI and UCSD, UCLA probably, and UCB might be a reach.
USC you should get into, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got rejected.
Fordham-I would say your in.
NYU-in
Dartmouth- A reach for anyone...those who get in are people who have credential just like you or better.
GWU-I'm not sure...
Grinnell- I've never even heard of the school.
Pomona-ahh...I'd say in...but not 100% sure
georgetown- I'm not sure once again....
Emory- ^

Thnx for your post!

about Koreans..
True, the competition is ugly... most kids study privately and sleep during school...
and compared to here, sure there are lots of more bad stuff

but, i'd say as a homogenious nation, we kind of have more of a
intimacy?
Not saying that all Americans are aloof, but relatively.

Social life wise, differs among people, but I'd say we have a 'different' social life.

Can I have any other opinions?

B u m p ..........

I think that you have a chance EA at Chicago. However, retake the SATs. Your CR score is low for Chicago and that could hurt you. Chicago does put a lot of emphasis on students who really want to go there, so if you think it is a fit and you both would benefit by your presence there, let them know it and why you think so. The supplemental essays on the Common Application will be very important for you to do well on.There has been a huge surge in EA applications this year, so it is getting tougher to get in. Lots of luck.

Thanks newenglandparent! I am kind of hearing that its getting harder and harder to get into Uchicago. I will try to show my interest as much as possible!
