I am interested in majoring in music, and though I have sung in choirs and acted in musicals for most of my high school years, I have only recently decided that it is what I want to study. Despite my active participation in music activities, I am worried that I do not have the sufficient music training. I have been playing guitar for a year and I have recently started learning piano, but my main instrument is voice. In addition, I only started taking music theory courses this semester. Although I am a good singer, I would not say that my talent compares to some of the amazing singers nowadays. In short, although I am not the best at what I do yet, I have the passion and dedication to want to do this for the rest of my life. Also, I do not intend on majoring in music performance. My interest lies in music therapy or music composition.

Although I know that there are many amazing music colleges in the US, such as Juillard and Berkley, I do not think I match the high standards that the students entering already have. What I am looking for is a good music program that will accept me despite my lack of training and help me reach the levels that I want to achieve. Could anyone give me suggestions on good music programs? Also, does anyone have any advice to give me on the best way to find what I am looking for?
