Chances for an unhooked "perfect applicant" ED

I saw somewhere that you only really have a good chance of being admitted ED at top colleges if you are hooked. Is this true?

Right now, I have SAT of

750+ CR (will now for sure what it is in 7 days)
760 M
800 W
12 essay

800 Math 2
780 Bio
770 US History

9 AP classes (plus 2 self-studies)

4.0 unweighted (rank 1/432)

Eagle Scout
150+ hours community service
peer tutor (~3 hours/week)
soloist in marching band (mellophone) (200+ members - national parades like presidential inaugural parade and tournament of roses)
soloist in woodwind choir (on Oboe), and soloist in jazz band (trumpet) - have done both for all 4 years of highschool
member of student council for all of high school
member of math league for past 2 years (on the county champion team)
+more but I don't feel like listing everything

Commonapp essay is stellar, as are the supplements
recs should all be really good too
Major in Bio-chem.
Have visited once and also attended the science invitational

So do I at least have a fair shot compared to all the hooked people applying early?

How many AP tests did you take and what were your scores? Not following what you mean by “perfect applicant”. Your class rank and test scores are certainly very good but I don’t see anything in your EC’s that stand out except for being an Eagle Scout.

It’s not just the hooked applicants you should be thinking about, there are a lot of very high scoring applicants with lots of leadership positions and very focused outside academic or artistic pursuits. There are some 27,000 valedictorians and the same amount of salutatorians; some Ivies boast about having turned down 8 out of 10 valedictorians. Just trying to keep you grounded. You have a decent shot but you are not the “perfect applicant” who’s only worry is their spot might be usurped by a hooked applicant. Btw, these days many legacy applicants have extremely strong credentials. The same goes for URM’s. These kids don’t even need any type of hook to get in.

lol youre really not perfect. If you think you are you should probably create another post called “why am I so narcist” lol

PS: just scored 2330 on the October SAT
