1st generation college student, International Student, Don’t need financial aid.

Essays are great and recommendations great

I think ur 50 50 with SAT, if ur math was a tad higher and writing is very low, babson is very heavy on writing they emphasize that extremely… for some reason so many international students r getting into babson this year… anyways I got in with a 590-r, 650-m and 700-w and also with 720-us subject test and 670- math one subject test all EA

I got into Babson with a 700 writing, a 630 reading and 560 math score. I had a horrible high school GPA, but a lot of professional work experience and strong letters of recommendation. Upon getting in, expect to have to write you a$$ off.

I’ve applied for the fall of 2010, and Babson is my #1 choice. I’m worried because my grades aren’t as high as most who get in, but at least I have decent essays, lots of ECs and my own businesses that I launched and operate on my own. Blackey, I’ll write my a$$ off. I just hope they admit me and give me that chance!!!

if babson is your #1 choice it’s best to apply ED!!! your chances are much higher, because babson loves students who REALLY want to go. take a college visit, find out who is reading your application, and email them! SAT’s aren’t everything-- passion and interests are weighted much heavier. send in some extra supplements, be proactive and they’ll notice.

Well, I made two trips from Illinois to Boston just to visit Babson. I interviewed with admissions twice, had a telephone interview with one of the top entrepreneurial professors, then spent a day sitting in on classes. It seems that no matter how much interest I showed in Babson, it didn’t overcome my grades. They denied me admission.

I thought about making one final contact just to thank them for considering me and tell those involved how much I appreciated their taking the time to meet with me. However, I just don’t want to come across as begging. I’m not one to easily give up, but now that they’ve denied me, should I just leave it alone?

On the Babson website they encourage denied applicants to attend another school and then reapply as a transfer student. If you love the school that much and are determined to be admitted, you could express your interest and plans to do just that. Not sure what your grades are like, but if you do really well at another college you never know. Best of luck in your decision.

david, i’m so sorry to hear that :(. one of my friends appealed freshman year; she wrote an amazing essay and babson ended up admitting her. i would appeal and appeal NOW before may 1… they may put you at the top of the waitlist. then again, getting in 4 years ago was easier than getting in now. if you chose not to appeal, getting in as a transfer is pretty easy unless you messed up really bad at another school. goood luck kiddo
