I am currently a senior at Loyola High School and am wondering my chances for Carnegie Mellon, my top choice.
My SAT Score is a 2250: 720 Crit, 800 Math, 730 Writing
My SAT II Scores are: 780 Math 2C, 720 Chem
My GPA: is a 4.1 W and a 3.6 UW (AP Physics C (Senior), AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC (Senior), AP Computer Science (Senior), AP American Government (Senior), AP World History, and 6 other honors classes)
however there is a story behind this. I transferred into Loyola HS after Freshman year from a very small school without sports( 29 in my class ), when I transferred to to Loyola it was a big change playing a Varsity Sport and school work so my Sophomore grades suffered alot. But after a year I got the hang of things i got all A's and 2 B+'s during my junior year. I know CMU doesn't count freshmen year because it was a transition year, but do you think this would apply to my sophomore year?
Extra Curricular and Other Stuff:
1) Varsity and Club Swimming(Year Round), CMU swimming coach is writing me a recommendation to the office of admissions.
2) Over 200 Hrs of community service ( Some relating to computer engineering )
3) Brown Introduction to engineering class
4) National Merit Semi Finalist (Hoping to be finalist)
5) AP Scholar with honor
What are my chances?
