Chances for Cornell Economics ED (CAS)

<p>I have just completed my Junior year in High school and would appreciate a chance.</p>

<p>Applying for economics</p>

<p>SAT: 2120 (Best scores) (710M 700CR 710W)
2100 (one sitting) (710M 690CR 700W)</p>

<p>SAT 2s- Math II-780 Biology-800 WHistory- 750</p>

<p>GPA: 4.0 (UW)
(school doesn't rank)</p>

<p>IB Diploma Program predicted grades (Extremely rigorous out of 45 points):</p>

<p>Economics HL (7), Math HL (6), Biology HL (7), Physics SL (6), English SL (6), French B SL (5), TOK EE CAS (2)</p>

<p>(TOK EE and CAS is out of 3)</p>

<p>ECs:
THIMUN (MUN conference) one in Dubai and the other in Qatar, Co founded it last year
Swimming Team (competed at an international level) im also captain of school team
Interschool debating team and adjudicator
Lifegaurding at local water park including life guarding course
Young political Bloggers (online e magazine)
Peer Tutor in school 8th 9th and 10th grade</p>

<p>Internships and Jobs:
Internship at Law firm in India
Currently in an Internship at credit rating agency (Dunn and Bradstreet)</p>

Nepal trip from school Hiked for a week up a mountain to build a school for children in the rural areas
Volunteered Fina World Swimming Championships (high post)
Volunteered for 4 weeks at a school for disabled children in Mumbai</p>

<p>Awards: Duke of Edinburugh Silver Award, Some swimming awards.</p>

<p>Essays are considered strong by everyone who read them.</p>

<p>Recs (can't read) Economics should be amazing. Maths should be standard (good)</p>

<p>Your only glaring problem is the SAT, since you’ll be competing against other internationals. Otherwise, you’re definitely a strong applicant.</p>

<p>Yea it’s just your SATs that are low that would cause you any problems</p>

<p>Your SATs are ‘ok’ but not great for US students. No idea how they stack up for Internationals.</p>

<p>In any event with your entire record, you should definitely apply. You will certainly receive serious consideration. Otherwise, it’s a numbers game, so it will depend on how the entire application holds together.</p>

<p>your SAT II scores are great; your ECs look good; really, like everyone else said, the only thing holding you back right now is your SAT I. try to take it again, and see if you can get another huge jump like you did earlier haha (and study a lot!). After that, I think it’ll be a pure game of chance with an ivy like cornell.</p>
