Oh no, those arent my scores haha those are the level of the class. And theres no time to bring up the gpa before the November deadline

Ok youve both been chanced back :)

I think you have a good shot. SAT is certainly great and your quality of classes (IB) helps as well. I do think the UW GPA is a bit low but hopefully it will be offset by other stuff.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/758832-chances-i-begin-my-apps.html

I think you have a great shot at it. With a great essay that explains why your GPA isn’t necessarily up to snuff and highlights you extracurricular’s you should be good, which is unfortunate for me.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/760761-chance-me-please-only-cornell-ed-if-youre-short-time.html

I’d give you a 60%, cause you’re CR+M is excellent, but your GPA is lacking.

Youve been chanced back everyone :)

i don’t wanna repeat basically what everyone said, but…
bump up the GPA if possible,

most likely and hopefully you will get commended…

You might want to write about your job at the firm as a college essay.
=]

Haha well thanks Soccergirl 11! What do you mean by commended?

Bumpity bump bump!

I think you got a pretty decent shot. 50/50 maybe 60/40 but the SAT score is really nice. It would help if you had high IB scores. Also, congrats on probably being a NMF. I got the exact score that was my states deadline last year…so fingers crossed!!

Thanks in advance!!

sorry to be redundant, but bump the gpa up a bit. dont get too worried if u cant- ur ec’s and test scores are great. get good recs and essays and ur a really good candidate. best of luck =]

Perhaps low reach. Good scores and GPA is kinda low, but don’t give up hope. Best wishes.

Yeah I agree with everyone else too about the GPA. Just a question - what is PIB? My school does IB too, and I’ve never heard of that…
I see most of the IB’s you took your junior year are HL’s, so I’m assuming you didn’t take any tests…
Your scores are pretty good, but what SAT Subject Tests? You should probably take some of those.
Your EC’s are ok, except for your accounting job - that’s amazing. That could be a really big hook for you, you should expand on that in your applications.
I would say… 50-60% chance of you getting in, provided you have great essays and recommendations. If you could get a rec from this guy you work for, that would be really awesome.
Good luck!

Well i will definitely have a rec from my current boss, the CPA. He thinks very highly of me and he’s a really smart guy so it should be a pretty good one. The only thing is that i already have my common app essay written, and it doesnt include my job. I will write my supplemental essay for Cornell’s Agriculture and Life Sciences school about my job, but the essay for my first choice college (Arts and Sciences) is not really conducive to writing about my job, its more of a why cornell essay

Your SAT score is definitely going in your favor, and applying ED, will definitely give your stats a boost. I thing that you have a 60% chance of getting in. Which is relatively high. However, i would suggest going ED for a higher school, because I think you might strike gold with those stats

chance me?

Your PSATs won’t count much, though it’s a good score (interestigly, most ppl’s sat scores are much higher than their psats…) Cornell’s a reasonable choice for you. But I did not see any school related EC’s listed above, which is a minus.

Your class rank will hurt you a bit.

Yeah, my only school related ECs are Soccer, and the Foreign Exchange social group thing. All my community service is church or boy scout affiliated (im a life scout, leadership changes made it impossible for me to get eagle)

Your scores are incredible all across the board, congrats. That being said, your GPA and class rank are a little low and might hurt you a little bit. You seem to be fairly involved and have taken a fairly rigorous courseload. Right now your GPA is lowering your chances while your scores are raising them; I’d say put incredible attention into your essays just to be safe, but all in all I think you have a pretty good chance. . .probably about 6/10 - 7.5/10. Good luck.
Chance me back???

well…in a word, youre in. Test scores are good, and especially working at 60$ an hour, they know youre legit as a dependable, hardworking smart person. Cornell is probably the easiest IVY to get into and i think you have what it takes, even if they do consider writing, which im not sure about, you have a really good chance of acceptance.
